Paolo Bottero

Paolo Bottero is a Postdoctoral Researcher in Applied Economics at the Gran Sasso Science Institute, specializing in socio-economic and spatial inequalities, sustainable development, and disaster resilience. His research, grounded in the use of econometric and machine-learning methods, evaluates the impacts of regional policies, especially in post-shock contexts.

Paolo holds a PhD in Applied Economics from GSSI, where his thesis focused on sustainability and disaster resilience. He has collaborated with the United Nations on disaster risk reduction and has been a visiting researcher at the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission.

His expertise includes policy impact assessment, sentiment analysis, economic complexity, and geographic data science.
