Andrea Membretti

Andrea Membretti, PhD in Sociology, teaches Sociology of the Territory at the University of Pavia and is Research Fellow at the University of Trieste (DISPES).

He is also Research Affiliate at the University of Turin (CPS) and previously has been Senior Researcher at EURAC (Bolzano) and Visiting Researcher in several universities in Northern Europe and South Africa. He has been studying for years the new populations of the mountains, between migrations and multi-local living, in relation to climate change and socio-economic transformations.

He is an ambassador for the European Climate Pact and one of the founders of the association Riabitare l'Italia.

His latest book is ‘Migrazioni verticali. La montagna ci salverà? (Donzelli, 2024).
