So i was always annoyed because i couldn't hear when someone was messaging me and decided to find the solution for it. So apparently when you lower any volume but not the master one, notification sounds are still loud. The higher master volume and lower every other, the higher notification sound. I wanted to post it, because i haven't found any solution on internet and just figured it out myself. Hope it will be helpful!

When you say off, do you mean when the iPad is powered off? You cannot get a notification on a device that is powered off. You should receive the notifications on both devices, I know that I do with my iPhone and iPad. Are these iMessages, or are the regular SMS? Do you have the iPad set up for continuity?

Thought I had posted a reply: I have my pad off, but not a hard shutdown. Are you suggesting that I needs to be. hard shutdown o move the notification o the phone? I thought it should hit both. There are largely imeddage. Does an AMMS make a difference?

You should get notifications on both. I do. The only difference is that the message can hit the iPad at different times. Sometimes a little earlier, sometimes a little later. My problem really gets complicated when I am on my MacBook Air. I can get the notification on the Mac, the iPad, and my Apple Watch (instead of my iPhone when the phone is locked). You could see about changing the notification on the iPad to show the notification only in Notification center and turn the sound off. That way it would appear on your Notification screen when you look, but there would be no sound. Do that for the iPad only, and you should see the phone notification if it is set for sound and something other than the Notification Center.

While I play games my phone calls, notifications, etc. do not come through. I have gone into setting for game booster and thought I turned it so those could come through but I am still missing phone calls. Any sugestions?
