Submission Guidelines for Chapters

This contest aims to identify and recognize the best research paper from the research competitions conducted by various chapters. All submitted papers must be original, adhere to established research ethics, and must not have been previously presented in any other research paper contest.

Each chapter may submit more than one (1) analytical research paper (following the PJSS Format) from accredited training hospitals within their chapter. The selected chapter representative will have eight (8) minutes for an oral presentation during the PSGS Surgical Forum.

Judging Criteria:

•    Research Methodology – 40%

•    Relevance – 15%

•    Originality – 15%

•    Manuscript Quality – 10%

•    Presentation – 10%

•    Mastery of Subject Matter – 10%

Prizes:

•    First Prize:      Php 20,000.00

•    Second Prize:  Php 15,000.00

•    Third Prize:    Php 10,000.00

Submission Requirements:

•    Format: Arial font, 12pt, double-spaced, A4 size

•    Labeling: Title, Author(s), and Department

•    General Outline:

•       Abstract

•       Introduction

•       Discussion

•       Illustrations (if applicable)

•       Conclusion

•       References

•       Appendix (including IRB review and other relevant documents)

The case report must have been written within the past two (2) years and must not have been previously presented or published.

There is no limit to the number of case reports a chapter may submit. The committee will pre-screen the submissions, and top case reports will be selected for the final contest held during the convention.

Judging Criteria:

Pre-Judging (Content – 80%)

•    Objectives – 5%

•    Significance/Relevance – 15%

•    Originality/Resourcefulness – 35%

•    Discussion – 25%

Final Judging (Presentation - 20%)

•    Visual Presentation – 10%

•   Appropriate use of color, design, correct formatting, and absence of typographical errors

•    Oral Presentation – 10%

•   Clear and concise delivery, covering key points within the allotted eight (8) minutes

•    Second Prize:  Php 8,000.00

•    Third Prize:    Php 5,000.00
