The Government of the State of Chihuahua, through the State System of Researchers (SEI), has announced the 2025 incorporations of researchers, technologists, and academics committed to strengthening the scientific and innovation ecosystem of the region.
As part of this year's results, Javier Tovar Facio, member of the Process Systems Engineering Lab, was recognized as State Researcher Level II.
What does State Researcher Level II mean?
According to the official call, the Level II distinction is granted to researchers with a doctoral degree who have led scientific or technological projects with direct impact in Chihuahua, and who are also members of the National System of Researchers (SNII).
Beyond academic productivity, this level emphasizes contributions to innovation, the development of solutions for real-world challenges, and active collaboration with society. In practice, it shows that the projects carried out in the lab are considered relevant at the state level, with student participation playing a central role in achieving this impact.
A Shared Achievement
At the PSE Lab, research is understood as a shared effort where learning and discovery are built collectively. Students are not only participants, but active contributors whose ideas and projects shape the direction of the group. For this reason, this recognition is not only individual but also reflects the collective work of the lab, which brings together young researchers exploring themes such as renewable energy, battery recycling, sustainable industrial systems, and the water–energy–food nexus.
Looking ahead
Being part of the SEI opens opportunities to contribute to the evaluation of projects supported by the State Fund for Science, Technology, and Innovation (FECTI), and to strengthen dialogue between universities, industry, and society. For students, it is also a reminder that research carried out in Chihuahua can have an impact both locally and globally, and that their participation in these projects is essential for building a more sustainable future.
