The Mexican Academy of Sciences (AMC) has announced the results of its 2025 call for the admission of Young Members (Jóvenes Académicos), recognizing early-career researchers with outstanding scientific contributions and high potential for leadership in research.
Javier Tovar Facio, member of the Process Systems Engineering (PSE) Lab, has been accepted as Young Member of the Academy following a competitive evaluation process conducted by the AMC’s Young Members Commission.
The Young Members program is designed for researchers who, at an early stage of their careers, have demonstrated a strong record of academic productivity, originality in their work, and an active role in advancing their fields. Selection is based on scientific merit and the potential to contribute to the development of science in Mexico.
This distinction reflects the relevance and quality of the research conducted within the PSE Lab, particularly in areas such as sustainable process systems, renewable energy, battery recycling, and integrated resource management.
At the PSE Lab, research is developed as a collaborative effort where students and researchers work jointly to address complex engineering challenges. The recognition highlights not only individual achievement but also the collective work of the group.
As a Young Member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences, Javier Tovar Facio will have the opportunity to engage with the national scientific community, contribute to initiatives that promote research and education, and support the strengthening of science and innovation in Mexico.
