Philippine School Doha gathered in commemoration of its 32nd Founding Anniversary with the theme, ‘Empowering Excellence, Serving Beyond Boundaries’ under the spearhead of the Senior High School Department on October 4 at the Open Court and Edgar V. Bondoc Gymnasium.
As the Host Department, SHS facilitated the Field Demonstration, where team colors competed under the ‘Festival of Festivals’ theme. Based on the results, the teams achieved the following rankings:
CHAMPION
YELLOW TIGERS (Bailes de Luces)
1st runner-up
WHITE HAWKS (Balanghai Festival)
2nd runner-up
BLUE EAGLES (Masskara Festival)
3rd runner-up
RED TAMARAWS (Panagbenga Festival)
As the event began, the school principal Dr. Alexander S. Acosta emphasized the school's commitment to maintaining its core values and achieving its goals over time by saying,
“Today, Philippine School Doha, as a new made, because it gives birth to these 32 years that PSD stands for being persistence, steadfast, and deliverance.”
During the second part of the program at the Edgar V. Bondoc Gymnasium, Arch. Melito M. Gomez shared his reflections on PSD’s legacy and present successes with the envisioned hope for a promising future.
Moreover, Dr. Acosta led the ceremonial cutting cake to commemorate the school’s founding, celebrating the 32 years since its establishment.
Her Excellency Ambassador Lilibeth V. Pono also took part in the event as she highlighted that the school’s legacy would connect to the dreams and values of its graduates in her speech. She stated,
“Sinasalamin ng mahigit tatlumpu't taong kasaysayan ng PSD ang mga adhikain, paninindigan, at hangarin ng mga libo-libong estudyanteng Pilipino na nagsipagtapos sa paaralang ito.”
The celebration concluded as Dr. Noemi F. Formaran, the SHS Vice Principal, acknowledged the contributions of the participants, organizers, and supporters for their efforts in ensuring the success of the event in recognizing the school’s milestone.
Notably, the attendees witnessed an array of thematic performances from the HIYAW Dance Troupe and Chorale, Drum and Lyre Corps, Senior High School faculty, and Junior-Senior Dance Club. The following were also given individual awards:
