JHS Science Fair upholds sustainability, technology

The Junior High School Department held its annual Science Congress with the theme: “Science and Technology for a Sustainable Future,” showcasing and awarding student-made scientific projects on March 18 at the EVB Gymnasium.

The winners of the level-wide competitions are the following:


Recycled 3D Science Model

Champion: 7-Cassini

1st Runner-Up: 7-Ptolemy

2nd Runner-Up: 7-Hubble

3rd Runner-Up: 7-Copernicus


Assemblage Sculpture of Body Organ

Champion: 8-Linnaeus

Additionally, all grade levels partook in the Cleanest Classroom Competition, hailing the winners: 7-Halley, 8-Darwin, 8-Jenner, 9-Boyle, and 10-Edison.

As School Principal, Dr. Alexander S. Acosta explained, the competition was held to show that students value keeping their environment clean. 

“PSDians build Science for an immunitive action, not destruction,” he further stated.

Moreover, to give light to the ceremony’s aim, Hon. Monica Remsy S. Calangian, the 3rd Secretary and Vice Consul of the Philippine Embassy, gave a special message about her experiences in a science high school and how it shaped who she is today. According to Hon. Calangian,

“Science Fairs hone skills important in your lives like creativity, love of learning, critical thinking, patience and perseverance, resourcefulness, and leadership.”

Notably, the Science Congress aimed at demonstrating the skills and knowledge of the students towards a scientific world. This event was spearheaded by the JHS Science Teachers as follows: Dr. Rowena Sagayadoro, Mrs. Myrna Tiemsin, Ms. Laarni Pascual, and Ms. Shiela Bello.
