Naltrexone

Naltrexone is a drug that has been shown to aid people with ASD by reducing hyperactivity and restlessness, as well as life-threatening behavior. Temper tantrums, irritability and social withdrawal occur less frequently. Children with abnormal endorphin levels may respond especially well. Though Naltrexone can help abate symptoms of ASD, it has not been shown to affect core symptoms or improve learning abilities. Placebos may also be effective in reducing self-injurious behavior.
