Ms. Zhu & Mr. Woodburn

School Counselors

Dear Parents/Guardians & Students

Let me begin by saying how much we miss all of our 900+ students and their families. We are all concerned for our health and well-being. Although none of us may have experienced this before, the PS 120 Q community (parents, students, educators, and all other stakeholders) have quickly risen to the occasion, as usual! We would like to thank everyone for your kindness and support, especially our health professionals, truck drivers, grocery store employees, first responders (those in health related careers) and all other essential operations personnel.

As you know, at PS 120Q we want all of our students to feeling empowered, having developed their academic, kinesthetic, social, and emotional intelligences in a school that fosters practices to deepen their 21st-century skills (conceptual understanding, critical and creative thinking, collaboration, leadership, problem solving and digital literacy). The next few weeks will not be easy as many new challenges will be faced. There will be mistakes, problems, and concerns along the way. However, there will be more successes, happiness, hope, laughter, fun, and purpose! We understand many of you are still working and have several children to help, financial concerns, health issues, etc. We are here to patiently support our students and you throughout this challenging time. If at any point you feel, overwhelmed or frustrated, please reach out to someone in our school community by phone or email like your child’s teacher, another parent, an administrator, or school counselor.

We are going to do our best to provide for the academic and social-emotional needs of all students. But you are the parents and they are with you, so you have control to adjust as needed for your child/children. We also ask for your patience and understanding as we travel this new territory, too. Our teachers and other employees are working long hours from home while dealing with their new, but temporary, normal while taking care of their loved ones as well.
