Last Updated: April 5, 2026
Promptly is designed with privacy in mind. We only collect what is strictly necessary to provide core features like prompt history. You are always in control of your data.
Promptly now offers optional account-based features. Depending on how you use the extension, we may collect:
If you use Guest Mode (no account): We collect nothing. No data is stored anywhere. The extension works exactly as before.
If you create an account:
Your email address (used for login only)
Prompts you submit and the AI-generated responses (stored as your history)
Timestamps of when prompts were generated
We do not collect or store:
Browsing history
Website content
Cookies
IP address
Device information
The user may choose to submit:
Text typed into the extension
An image manually selected or pasted
This input is sent to our backend API to generate an AI response. If you are signed in and Ghost Mode is off, the prompt and response are also saved to your personal history in Firebase Firestore.
Prompt processing: User-provided text and images are sent temporarily to our server, processed by the Gemini API, and the response is returned to you. We do not retain, log, or analyze this input on our servers.
Prompt history (signed-in users only): If you are signed in, your prompts and responses are saved to your private Firestore database so you can access them later. This data is:
Stored securely under your unique user ID
Only accessible by you
Never shared with third parties
Ghost Mode: When Ghost Mode is enabled, the prompt you submit is processed normally but is not saved to your history. Nothing is stored in Firestore for that request.
You are in full control of your data:
Clear History — delete all your saved prompts at any time using the Clear button in the history panel
Ghost Mode — toggle on before sending a prompt to prevent it from being saved
Guest Mode — use the extension without creating an account; nothing is ever stored
Delete Account — contact us at gkhatri211@gmail.com to have your account and all associated data permanently deleted
Promptly communicates with:
Our own backend API (https://promptly-orcin.vercel.app) — for prompt processing
Google Gemini API — for AI response generation
Google Firebase — for authentication and storing prompt history (signed-in users only)
Firebase is a Google service governed by Google's Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).
Guest users: No data is retained
Signed-in users: Your history is stored until you clear it or request deletion
Prompt processing: Input is not retained on our servers after a response is generated
We do not share any data with:
Advertisers
Analytics providers
Any third parties beyond those listed in Section 5
All data is transmitted securely via HTTPS
Firestore access is protected by security rules — only you can read or write your own data
Your Firebase API credentials are restricted to this extension only
Promptly is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
If we make significant changes to this policy, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
If you have any questions or wish to request data deletion, contact us at: gkhatri211@gmail.com
