STEM Education Postdoctoral Opportunities Summit
Tuesday, November 19, 2024, 5 - 7 pm Eastern
Via Zoom
Summit Overview and Goals
The STEM Education Postdoctoral Opportunities Summit (aka, the "Summit") will be a virtual event to connect doctoral students and recent doctoral graduates with postdoctoral opportunities nationwide. The goals of the Summit are to connect doctoral students and recent doctoral graduates with postdoctoral opportunities nationwide, to elevate emerging scholars, and to provide professional networking pathways for a diverse pool of applicants. Doctoral candidates or recent graduates interested in applying for STEM education postdoc positions will have the opportunity to present a "pitch" about themselves, their research, and goals for pursuing a postdoctoral experience. STEM education researchers with open postdoc positions can present information about their program to recruit applicants.
What will happen at the Summit?
We'll provide a brief overview of the agenda (view the Summit 2023 agenda), discuss what a postdoc position is and describe what STEM education research is all about.
Participants with available postdocs will briefly describe those positions (~1 minute per available position).
Potential applicants for postdoc positions will briefly introduce themselves (think 30-second "elevator pitch")
Speed Networking: We'll provide opportunities for potential postdocs to connect with those recruiting applicants for postdoc positions in breakout rooms organized by theme (for example, engineering education, computing education, STEM education, etc.) and discuss in more detail the expectations for these positions.
How do I participate?
If you are a researcher recruiting applicants for one or more available postdoc positions opening up in 2025 - 2026, we'll ask you to register your available position(s) using this information form and then create a slide in our shared slide deck. We ask that you complete the information form with information about the open position(s) and your program by COB Thursday, November 14, 2024.
If you are thinking of applying for a postdoctoral position or want to know more about available postdoc positions in STEM education, we'll ask you to register through the registration form and create a slide in our shared slide deck by Monday, November 18.
Information about available postdoctoral positions and those seeking to apply for a postdoc position will be shared with all who register for the Summit.
What if I want to participate but cannot attend the Summit?
If you are a researcher recruiting applicants for one or more available postdoc positions in 2025 - 2026 but can't attend the Summit on Nov. 19, please complete the information form by Monday, November 18. We will share the information about your available position(s) with all participants.
If you are thinking of applying for a postdoctoral position or want to know more about postdoc positions in STEM education but can't attend the Summit on Nov. 19, you can complete the registration form and create a slide in our shared slide deck by Monday, November 18. We will share your information with all recruiters before the Summit.
If you missed the Summit (for both those with available postdoc positions and those applying for postdoc positions), you can still share your information by completing the information or registration form and creating a slide in our shared slide deck.
Will information from the Summit be available after the Summit?
Yes! If you attended the Summit, you will be receiving a copy of the Summit slide deck and information about available postdoc positions and potential postdoc applicants.
If you were not able to attend the Summit but would like information about available STEM education postdoc positions or potential postdoc applicants, please email the PROMISE team at PROMISE@lists.clemson.edu to receive a link to the information.
