Project W.I.S.H, (standing for Wholeheartedly Inspiring Strength and Hope) is aimed at raising awareness towards Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) as we found that it is a disease often overlooked by society. Furthermore, we are also here to raise funds for the CHD ward at the National Heart Institute (IJN) of Malaysia.
Currently as it stands, the team here at Project W.I.S.H has pushed our first agenda that is to raise awareness for Congenital Heart Disease. On the 6th of December, our team had organzized a casual townhall session called E-MAMAK in collaboration with the Leo Club of Sunway Metro featuring Doctor Leong Ming Chern, a Consultant Paediatric Cardiologist and Deputy Head of Department at IJN.
Congenital Heart Disease can be defined as a defect in the structure of the heart or great vessels that is present in oneself since birth. Symtoms and effects can be mild to severe but in most cases, the patients will survive and go own to live a normal and healthy life post treatment.
At Project W.I.S.H, our goal is to both raise awareness towards Congenital Heart Disease and Raise funds for the treatment of patients at IJN, Some might question why are we raising funds for IJN. The answer would be that most patients that currently awaiting treatment at IJN are in need of financial support and it is up to every single ounce of effort that the public puts in to help the patients at IJN. Furthermore, the current Covid-19 pandemic has put further strain financially on most of the parents of the patients currently at IJN. Therefore, the team at Project W.I.S.H is looking to chip in and help as much as possible.
