What is Project Diamond?
Project Diamond was first created in light of the COVID-19 situation, during which physical CCA programmes nationwide were cancelled. Hence, the 2020 Executive Committee at the SYFC CCA in the School of Science and Technology, Singapore (SST) decided to work on a remote self-paced curriculum for CCA members.
Project Diamond aims to combat any stagnation of learning by providing members learning opportunities while at home, creating informational and engaging content. We have created learning materials from scratch to allow members to acquire the necessary knowledge about flying at home. We have made it so that it is easier for members to digest information accompanied by useful and easy to understand graphics and instructional videos. Quizzes and milestone checks are used to reinforce the knowledge that members have learnt complemented with Simulator sessions at home where an instructor can grade one’s performance using screen recordings.
Since 2021, under the then Executive Committee, Project Diamond has been designated as a fully-fledged curriculum site for the School of Science and Technology, Singapore Youth Flying Club CCA. This site will be maintained and continuously updated by future batches of the Executive Committee.
In 2022, Project Lumos was created to expand the standardised SYFC curriculum to other specialities - gliders, drones and commercial aviation.
