The dissertation is focused on the problems of Ukrainian morphology teaching in secondary schools on the basis of the research approach. The offered methodology of teaching morphology is based on the conceptual philosophical, psychological, linguistic, psycholinguistic, didactic and linguodidactic issues. Its determinant feature is the realization of the research approach, the fundamental one for teaching the theory of a language, as well as strategies and techniques of morphological notions, phenomena and norms investigation, and the development of representative, logical and creative thinking.
Methodological content of the word “research”, its connections with other scientific notions are considered, the basic ideas of the methodology of Ukrainian morphology teaching such as principles, methods, techniques, forms, tutorials are defined and their content characteristics are specified.
The main tendencies of research approach realization in school language education of the 20th and the early 21st centuries are determined, the system of research tasks on morphology as one of the main means of language research competence development is worked out, the methodological system of step-by-step morphology teaching in secondary schools on the basis of the research approach is created and its effectiveness is experimentally proved.
