Biography

Nandana Rajatheva (Senior Member, IEEE) received the B.Sc. (Hons.) degree in electronics and telecommunication engineering from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, in 1987, ranking first in the graduating class, and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, MB, Canada, in 1991 and 1995, respectively. He was a Canadian Commonwealth Scholar during the graduate studies in Manitoba. He held Professor/Associate Professor positions at the University of Moratuwa and the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand, from 1995 to 2010. He is currently a Professor with the Centre for Wireless Communications (CWC), University of Oulu, Finland. His research interests include machine learning for PHY/RAN and autonomous vehicles. 

To those looking for opportunities - PhD admission requires a couple of quality publications, meaning IEEE Transactions, Letters and/or top level conference papers such as ICC, Globecom in addition to solid theoretical foundation: communication theory. PhD recruitment is always subject to rigorous  scrutiny. Having a Masters degree is ONLY a basic condition. Total duration 4 years.

Easier route will be to get admission as a Master student at CWC WCE program, we offer full tuition free scholarships for qualified candidates and then finalize the Master in one year working for a paid project and obtain funding for PhD. Total duration 4.5 years.
