As an academic specializing in Real Estate Finance, I have enjoyed the opportunity to work on topics that help advance our understanding of real estate markets and the effects of policy interventions such as the Paycheck Protection Program and the COVID-19 government shutdowns. My research has been published in top peer-reviewed journals, including The Review of Financial Studies, American Economic Journal - Economic Policy, Review of Finance, Real Estate Economics, Regional Science and Urban Economics, and The Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics.
I am honored to have received multiple awards, including the American Real Estate Society 2021 Best Paper Award in Property/Asset Management from the Institute of Real Estate Management for my paper titled, "Did the Paycheck Protection Program Help Small Businesses? Evidence from Commercial Mortgage-backed Securities,'' as well as the American Real Estate Society 2018 Best Paper Award in Real Estate Finance from Real Capital Analytics for my paper titled, "Does Borrower and Broker Race Affect the Cost of Mortgage Credit?" I was also awarded the 2021 Best Referee Award for Real Estate Economics from the American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association. Additionally, I am a post-doctoral honoree of the Hoyt Weimer School for the class of 2025.
I work as an Associate Professor for the Stuart Handler Department of Real Estate in the College of Business Administration at the University of Illinois, Chicago. I obtained my Ph.D. in Business Administration with an Emphasis in Real Estate from Penn State University in 2019, and hold a B.A. and M.A. in Economics from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
