Dissertation: “Self-Excited Vibration Analysis of a Rotor Air-Ring Bearing via a Two-Degrees of Freedom Approach”
This research explores externally pressurized air-ring bearings and is an extension of the M.E. thesis work. Dr. Muruganandam has been single-mindedly working on this research for the past 18 years with the long-term objective of designing and fabricating a prototype air-ring bearing suitable for micro gas turbine applications. In the Ph.D. research, computations were performed using ANSYS software in a parallel solver having sixteen processes with the memory shared between the processes on a single machine (Intel Xeon CPU E5-2683-v4 with 2.10 GHz).
