Mac Book MS office

The way to bring MS office features of Windows to your macOS and excel with their Applications.

If you have been a Windows user earlier in your life who have switched to macOS later on, one thing which you have missed a lot in macOS would be MS Office for sure.

Yeah, despite having text editor and other tools on macOS, there is a dire need of having a complete package like MS Office where things can be very handy and the user can be very universal. This is somewhere Windows system beats the macOS up to an extent as there are loads of users who try to either get Microsoft tools on the mac or just leave the mac and switch to windows.

It’s not easy for everyone to just switch the whole system and keep a whole dedicated PC for MS Office and an entire MacBook or PC for editing or other such stuff. It’s not a wise way to consider things.

Now, we all know the only option here is to get MS Office work on your macOS system.

But how???

So, let’s go for a detailed and Step by Step discussion over the fact that how will you exactly download and Install MS Office on your macOS system.

  1. Licensing

  2. Downloading

  3. Installation Beginning

  4. The License Agreement

  5. Location of Installation

  6. Type of Installation

  7. The Installation

  8. The After-Installation Procedure

Step 1: Licensing

Yeah! You heard it right, before getting Microsoft Office for your system, you have to get the license from their official website. Anybody who wants to have it can buy it. The mode of getting a license are multiple. You can get it on a subscription basis as well as you can buy it as a one-time investment.

Also, you can get the “Office Home” version or the “Student” version from the website depending upon the use and the price. It is advised to visit the Microsoft Website and check all the updates or stuff related to buying a license. Yeah, make sure that you’ll need a Microsoft account before buying a Microsoft Office license.

Step 2: Downloading

Now it’s time to play the real game mate.

Visit https://login.live.com from your Mac in which you wish to install Microsoft Office. After visiting the Login Screen it will look like just like the image below.

Now as I have said above that you will be needing a Microsoft account first, this is where the account comes into play. Just enter your Microsoft username, (the e-mail address, Skype Username or even Phone number), and after that, it is obvious that you will be asked to enter the password.

After logging in, the Microsoft Account page will appear and the entire management and everything can be done here. By management I mean you can manage your subscriptions, devices on which you have installed Microsoft Office, the billing details and lots of other stuff depending upon the type of subscription you made. The homepage will just look like the same as in the image with some difference depending upon your plan.

Now just take a look at the very left side of your screen on your Mac and get into Subscriptions section. Now under the Subscription section, go for the Get started button.

Note: Add Image(Screenshot)

Now a Page which is titled as Service & Subscriptions will appear. Here there will be a section called INSTALL OFFICE APPS ON YOUR PC OR MAC. Just find it and click on it.

Now for those who are having an older version of macOS then you have to click on the tab DOWNLOAD OFFICE FOR VERSIONS 10.10 OR 10.11, otherwise, click on the INSTALL button(blue).

After choosing any of these two links your download will start immediately.

So, we are done with our Downloading part, now we will focus on the installation part.

Step 3: Beginning the Installation

Now, since you have already downloaded the file from the Microsoft website. You need to find the Microsoft Office Installer .pkg file in your Downloads section of the mac. Once you will find it, just give it a double-click and then you will see the installer screen as shown in the image below. Now you need to click CONTINUE.

Step 4: The License Agreement

Microsoft will have a License Agreement like other parties and it will require that you agree to it before installation in your system. It is advised to go through is once for in-depth details regarding the norms.

After clicking on the CONTINUE option, a drop-down pop-up will appear on the screen. Just click I AGREE to the license agreement if you agree with their norms.

Step 5: Location of Installation

First, you will be having two options, that do you want to install Microsoft Office for all accounts or just one specific account that is your account. There will be two buttons called INSTALL FOR ALL USERS or INSTALL FOR ME ONLY.

Note: Add Image(Screenshot)

Next, you need to click on the option INSTALL ON A SPECIFIC DISK. Here you can choose the Location (or disk) where you will be installing Microsoft Office. Select your desired disk and then click on CONTINUE.

Step 6: Type of Installation

So, now there are lots of options before you regarding the fact that how much of the Microsoft Office you want. Like if you go for the STANDARD INSTALLATION then you will get all software which falls under Microsoft Office. And the most important factor, Standard Installation will ask for almost 8.8 GB of space on your computer. First, ensure that you have it.

You can also get selected program out of the Microsoft Office collection by choosing the CUSTOMIZE option. Just uncheck the box beside those programs which you wish to Install.

After confirmation just click on the INSTALL button.

Step 7: The Installation

For Installing now you need to enter the Administrator Credentials. This is the place where you need to enter your Administrator username and password to allow for Installation. Don’t enter the Microsoft username and password here, people always get confused with it.

Note: Add Image(Screenshot)

Once, you have entered the Administrator Credentials, the Installation process will start instantly and the files will be written on your Hard Drive.

Now, the most important part comes and that is patience. Well, you need to wait here for almost 10- 45 minutes or even lesser or more than that depending upon the RAM or type of storage you have. Also, depending upon the conditions of your Mac.

Just towards the ending of the Installation access, it may seem like the computer is lagging or hanging but it is not like that. It happens because it is installing the Package Scripts. Let it sit and take all the time it requires, just be patient. Don’t keep hitting your keyboard or touchpad in a hurry.

Few moments and you have your Microsoft Office Installed. Yay!!!!!

But wait!!!

There are still some formalities left.

Step 8: The after Installation Procedure or The Touch-up.

Just as the Installation is done, a MICROSOFT AUTO-UPDATE dialogue box will appear. It will say that Microsoft will be taking some of your data to update and maintain records, and all. You can read more about this into using LEARN MORE section. You can’t opt-out of this and you have to click the OK button on the screen.

Now you can start any of the Microsoft Software on your Mac. The Microsoft team will once ask you to SIGN IN just to verify whether your license is active or not. After verification, the Microsoft Application will be open to using. And yes you did it!

So, this is all up with the entire process, make sure you follow each step precisely.
