YT Translate Studio is a browser extension that helps YouTube creators translate
video titles, descriptions and subtitles into multiple languages from within
YouTube Studio.
## What data the extension processes
- **Google account information.** When you sign in, the extension receives your
email address and an access token issued by Google for your account. The email
is used to identify your license/approval status. The access token is held by
the browser (Chrome identity API) and is used only to call the official
YouTube Data API v3 on your behalf, against your own channels.
- **Your YouTube content.** Video titles, descriptions, subtitle tracks and
channel information of videos you choose to work on. This content is read and
written only through the official YouTube Data API v3 with your authorization.
- **Text you translate.** Titles, descriptions and subtitle text are sent to the
translation provider you select or configure (Google Translate, MyMemory,
DeepL, Google Cloud Translation, or a translation server running on your own
computer) solely to produce the translation you requested.
- **Your settings and API keys.** Language groups, content rules, drafts, job
queues and any translation API keys you enter are stored locally in your
browser's extension storage on your device. Your API keys are never sent to
the developer.
- **License information.** If a license server address is configured, the
extension sends your email address (or a license key you enter), a random
installation ID and the extension version to that server to check your
approval status and enabled features. No video content is sent to the
license server.
## Optional local companion server
Some subtitle features use an optional companion program running on your own
computer. Communication with it happens only on your own machine
(127.0.0.1 / localhost). Subtitle files it stores are kept in folders on your
computer under your control.
## What we do NOT do
- We do not sell or rent your personal data to third parties.
- We do not use your data for advertising or creditworthiness purposes.
- We do not collect data from people who do not use the extension.
- We do not store your Google password. Sign-in is handled entirely by Google.
## YouTube API Services
This extension uses YouTube API Services. By using it you also agree to the
YouTube Terms of Service (https://www.youtube.com/t/terms). Your use of Google
services is covered by the Google Privacy Policy
(https://policies.google.com/privacy). You can revoke the extension's access
to your Google account at any time at
https://myaccount.google.com/permissions.
## Data retention and deletion
Settings stored in your browser are removed when you uninstall the extension
or clear its storage. License records (email/key, status, installation IDs)
are kept on the license server while your access is active; to request
deletion of your license record, contact us at the email above.
## Changes
We may update this policy; the current version will always be available at
this address with a new "last updated" date.
