We care about your privacy and want to explain our approach in a clear and simple way.
VideoCompressorApp is an iPhone app that compresses videos locally on your device. In most cases, the videos you choose stay on your device while they are imported, analyzed, previewed, compressed, and exported. Unless you choose to use system sharing, email, iCloud Photos, iCloud Drive, or another service you select, we do not upload your video content to our servers.
The current version does not require account registration, does not provide user accounts, and does not include advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs.
To complete the actions you request, the app may process the following information on your device:
Video files that you intentionally choose from Photos or Files.
Video files that you send to the app through the system Share Extension and that may be stored temporarily in the app group's shared inbox.
Basic video-processing information such as file name, duration, resolution, frame rate, codec, audio-track information, and file size.
Source-video metadata, such as capture date, title, device information, software information, and location data already embedded in the source video.
Local in-app preferences, such as whether to prefer saving back to the original album, whether to preserve metadata, and whether to show device storage information.
Your email address, message content, and any attachments you send if you choose to contact us by email.
We use this information only to provide the features you choose to use, for example:
To import, analyze, preview, compress, and export the video you select.
To receive videos that you intentionally send to the app through the system Share Extension and continue the import flow in the main app.
To write certain source metadata into the exported result when you enable Preserve Metadata.
To try to save the exported result back to the original album when you choose Save to Original Album.
To locate and delete the original Photos video when you intentionally use the Delete Original Video feature.
To create temporary cache files needed for import, preview, compression, validation, and export.
To store your local app preferences for future use.
To respond when you contact us for support.
The app currently uses the following permissions or system capabilities:
Photos permission: used to read videos you intentionally select, save compressed results to Photos, and, when you explicitly use those features, try to save back to the original album or delete the original video.
File access: used only when you intentionally import from or export to Files.
iCloud or other cloud downloads: if the video you choose is stored in iCloud Photos, iCloud Drive, or another cloud storage service, the system may first download it to your device before local processing begins.
System Share Extension: when you send a video to the app from Photos, Files, or another app's Share menu, the system first hands the file to the extension and stores it temporarily in the app's shared container so the main app can continue importing and processing it.
The app does not request device location permission.
However, if the source video already includes location metadata and you enable Preserve Metadata, that location information may remain in the exported video.
Except as described in this policy, the current version of the app does not:
Upload your videos to servers that we own or control.
Sell, rent, or use your videos for advertising.
Use your information for cross-app or cross-site tracking.
Require you to register an account or provide identity information such as your name or phone number to use the core compression features.
Information may leave your device only in a few situations, and those situations are usually triggered by your choices or by platform services rather than by collection to our own servers:
When you use system sharing to send a video to another app, contact, or platform, the destination app or service will handle that file under its own privacy policy.
When you contact support by email, your email address, message content, and attachments may be processed by your email provider and by us.
When you import from iCloud Photos, iCloud Drive, or another third-party cloud service, or export to an external service you choose, Apple or the relevant provider may process the data under its own rules.
Other than the situations above, we do not proactively disclose your video content or personal information to third parties.
The app may create temporary cache files in the device's temporary directories during import, preview, compression, and validation.
Videos imported through the system Share Extension may first be written briefly to the app group's shared inbox before the main app consumes them and clears the related temporary files.
Some temporary files are automatically cleaned when the app launches or moves to the background, and you can also clear cache manually in Settings at any time.
Result files that you explicitly save to Photos or Files remain in the location you choose until you delete them.
Local app preferences remain on your device until you uninstall the app, clear relevant data, or change those settings later.
If you contact us by email, related correspondence may be kept for a reasonable period as needed to provide support, investigate issues, and comply with legal obligations.
You remain in control of your information and can manage it at any time by:
Declining Photos permission, or revoking it later in system settings.
Using Files import or export instead of Photos.
Turning off Preserve Metadata to avoid writing capture time, location, or device information into exported videos.
Not using Save to Original Album or Delete Original Video.
Clearing temporary cache in Settings.
Deleting exported results from Photos or Files.
Contacting us with privacy-related questions.
