Privacy Policy — Interval Walking Timer

Applies to: the Android application Interval Walking Timer (package com.krydecres.intervalwalk), published on Google Play by Krydecres.

Quick summary

• Your workouts stay on your phone. Walking history, GPS routes, pace, steps, height, weight and your fitness self-assessment are stored only in local storage on the device. They are never uploaded to us, and we have no server that could receive them.

• There is no account. You never sign up, and we hold no profile about you.

• We cannot read your health data. The app only ever writes a completed workout to Health Connect, and only if you turn that on. It does not request the read permission, so Android will not grant it one.

• Three things do leave the phone: a fixed, listed set of usage events to Google Analytics for Firebase; advertising requests to Google AdMob, governed by the consent choice you make; and your coordinates to Open-Meteo, only while the optional weather feature is on.

• You can erase everything from inside the app — Settings → Your data → Delete all data.

• You can change your advertising consent at any time — Settings → About → Ad privacy options.

1. Who is responsible for your data

The data controller is Krydecres, the developer that publishes Interval Walking Timer on Google Play.

Our postal address is the developer address published on our Google Play store listing, under About the developer. Google Play requires that address to be public, and it is the authoritative one.

2. What stays on your device and never leaves it

The following is written to the app's own private storage on your phone (a Room database and a DataStore preferences file) and is not transmitted anywhere:

• Walking sessions: start and end times, durations, interval structure and phase log.

• GPS route points recorded during a session, and the distance and pace derived from them.

• Step counts from the device step sensor.

• Your body height and weight, if you enter them.

• The result of the in-app walking endurance self-check.

• Your presets, reminders, cue sounds, language and every other setting.

The app has no cloud sync and no backend of its own. The only way this data leaves the phone is if you move it: by exporting a backup file to a location you choose, or by enabling Health Connect (see section 6).

3. Google Analytics for Firebase

The app uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand which features are used and whether the app is working. Google processes this data as our processor and, for its own service purposes, as a controller. Google's privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy. The complete list of events we send

These are all of them. There are no other custom events, and no event carries a workout measurement, a location, a health value, a body measurement or any free text:

• screen_view — which screen was opened, by its internal route name (home, history, settings, and so on).

• walk_started, walk_paused, walk_resumed, walk_ended — that a workout reached that state. No duration, distance, pace or route is attached.

• warmup_skipped — that the warm-up was skipped.

• fitness_baseline_opened, fitness_baseline_saved — that the endurance self-check screen was opened or completed. The result itself is never sent.

• weather_refresh_requested — that the weather card was refreshed. No coordinates are attached.

• cue_previewed — that a cue sound was previewed.

• language_changed — that the app language was changed. The chosen language is not attached.

• support_contact_opened — that the "Contact support" row was tapped.

• ad_impression — sent when Google reports that an advertisement earned revenue. It carries the amount and currency of that single impression, the ad format (banner or rewarded), the ad network that filled it, and which of the app's four ad slots it was. It carries nothing about you.

What Google collects automatically alongside those events

• An app instance identifier, generated on your device for this installation. Deleting the app's data or uninstalling it resets this identifier.

• Device model, operating system version, app version, and the language and country settings of the device.

• An approximate location — city or region level — that Google derives from the IP address of the request. The app does not send your GPS position to Analytics.

• Standard session information such as first opening the app and session start.

The app does not integrate a crash-reporting SDK, so no crash reports or stack traces are collected.

How long Google keeps it

Event-level and user-level Analytics data is retained for the period configured in our Firebase project, after which Google deletes it. Google's default for user-level and event-level data is 2 months, and the maximum that can be selected is 14 months. Aggregated reporting totals are kept by Google without a fixed limit.

4. Advertising (Google AdMob) and your consent

The free version of the app shows advertisements supplied by Google AdMob: banner advertisements on some screens, and an optional video advertisement you can choose to watch to unlock workout starts for 24 hours. Buying the one-time unlock removes all of them permanently.

To serve advertising, Google may process your device's advertising ID, the IP address of the request, and technical device and diagnostic information. If you are in the EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland

Before any advertisement is requested, the app shows you a consent form provided by Google's User Messaging Platform, a certified IAB TCF consent management platform. Nothing is loaded until you have answered it.

• Refusing is as easy as accepting. The form's "Do not consent" button is on the same screen, at the same level, as "Consent".

• If you refuse, advertisements are still shown, but they are not personalised: your refusal is recorded in the TCF consent string that accompanies every advertising request, and Google's systems apply it.

• You can change your mind at any time in Settings → About → Ad privacy options, which reopens exactly the same form. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, and takes effect from that moment.

Resetting or refusing your advertising ID

Independently of the in-app choice, Android gives you control at the system level: Settings → Google → All services → Ads, where you can Reset advertising ID or Delete advertising ID. Deleting it stops apps, including this one, from receiving any advertising identifier.

5. Weather (Open-Meteo)

The weather card is optional and off unless you enable it. While it is enabled and you use the app, the app sends your current latitude and longitude to Open-Meteo to fetch a short local forecast. The request contains the coordinates and nothing else — no identifier, no account, no device name — and the app does not keep a history of weather locations.

If you do not want your coordinates sent anywhere, turn the weather feature off in Settings; every other part of the app continues to work.

6. Health Connect

Health Connect integration is optional and off by default. When you turn it on and grant the permission, the app writes your completed walking sessions into Health Connect on your device, so other apps you have authorised can read them there.

This is write-only and we cannot make it otherwise: the app declares only android.permission.health.WRITE_EXERCISE. It requests no read permission, so the operating system will not give it access to anything written by your other health or fitness apps. You can check this yourself in the permissions list on our Google Play store listing.

Health Connect data stays on your device; it is not sent to us.

7. Purchases

The one-time unlock is sold and processed by Google Play Billing. Your payment method, card number and billing details are handled entirely by Google. We never see them and never store them.

The app asks Google Play whether the current Google account owns the product, and stores the answer — a single yes/no flag — on the device. That is the only purchase information the app holds.

8. Permissions and why the app asks for them

• Location (precise and approximate) — to measure distance and pace during a workout, and to fetch a local forecast if weather is enabled. The app does not request background location; location is used while a workout is running with its visible ongoing notification, or while you are using the app.

• Physical activity — to read the device step counter during a workout.

• Foreground service (location and health) — to keep the interval timer accurate with the screen off, with an ongoing notification you can see the whole time.

• Notifications — for the workout notification and for reminders you set yourself.

• Vibration and wake lock — for interval cues and to keep the screen on if you ask for it.

• Internet — for advertising, analytics, weather and purchases. Nothing else uses the network.

• Advertising ID — as described in section 4.

9. Legal bases for processing (GDPR)

If you are in the EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we rely on the following bases under Article 6(1) of the GDPR:

• Contract, Article 6(1)(b) — providing the walking timer itself, delivering the one-time unlock you bought, and restoring it on a new device.

• Consent, Article 6(1)(a) — storing and reading information on your device for advertising, personalised advertising, and the advertising and content measurement purposes presented in the consent form. This is the consent you give or refuse in that form, and can withdraw at any time from Settings → About → Ad privacy options. Withdrawal does not affect processing carried out before you withdrew.

• Legitimate interests, Article 6(1)(f) — measuring advertising and content performance, understanding our audience through aggregate statistics, and developing and improving the app, so that we can keep it working and keep it free. Our interest is in running a sustainable free app; we balance it by sending only the short, fixed event list in section 3 and no workout, health, body or location data.

Your right to object. Where we rely on legitimate interests, you have the right under Article 21 to object at any time. Write to the email address in section 1 and tell us; we will stop unless we can show compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests.

10. Your rights

Under the GDPR (Articles 15 to 22) and comparable laws, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you, and receive a copy.

• Rectify inaccurate data.

• Erase your data.

• Restrict processing in certain circumstances.

• Object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to direct marketing at any time.

• Data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.

• Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing already carried out.

• Lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority. In the EEA you may complain to the authority of the country where you live or work; in the UK, to the Information Commissioner's Office.

How to use these rights, in practice. Most of your data is only on your phone, so you can act on it directly and immediately:

• Access and portability — Settings → Your data → Export, which writes a JSON file containing everything the app has stored, to a location you choose.

• Erasure — Settings → Your data → Delete all data, or uninstalling the app.

• Withdrawing advertising consent — Settings → About → Ad privacy options.

For anything else, including data held by Google as a result of your use of the app, write to pducdddd@gmail.com. We will respond within one month. Because the app has no account system, please tell us enough for us to identify the relevant records; in some cases we may be unable to link any data to you, and we will say so.

11. If you are in the United States

Residents of California and of other states with comparable privacy laws have the right to know what personal information is collected and for what purpose, the right to delete it, the right to correct it, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights.

We do not sell your personal information for money. However, showing personalised advertising through Google AdMob may count as "sharing" for cross-context behavioural advertising, and as a "sale" under some state definitions. To opt out, use Settings → About → Ad privacy options, or delete your advertising ID in the Android system settings as described in section 4.

12. International transfers

Google and Open-Meteo process data on servers that may be located outside your country, including in the United States. Where data is transferred out of the EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, Google relies on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, on its certification under the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its UK and Swiss extensions. Google's transfer information is at https://business.safety.google/privacy/.

13. Who receives data, by name

This is the complete list. There are no other recipients, and we do not sell or rent data to anyone.

• Google LLC / Google Ireland Limited — Google Analytics for Firebase (usage events, section 3), Google AdMob (advertising, section 4), Google User Messaging Platform (your consent record), Google Play Billing (purchases, section 7), and Google Play services.

• Open-Meteo — coordinates for the optional forecast, section 5.

Health Connect is a component of your own device, not a recipient: data written there does not leave your phone through this app.

14. Children

The app is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect personal data from a child under 13, or under the higher minimum age that applies in your country — in the European Union this is between 13 and 16 depending on the member state. The app is not configured for the under-age-of-consent advertising treatment. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us at the address in section 1 and we will delete it.

15. Security

App data is held in the app's private storage, which Android isolates from other applications. All network requests use HTTPS. Because there is no account and no server of ours, there is no remote store of your workouts to be breached.

16. Changes to this policy

If the app's data behaviour changes, we will update this page and change the effective date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes on Google Play. Please check this page from time to time.
