2. Information We Collect
We collect information to provide better services to our users. The information we collect includes:
Account Information: When you register, we collect your email address and authentication details. We use Firebase Authentication (including Google Sign-In) to securely manage your account.
User-Generated Content:
Rulebooks and Images: When you add a new game, you may upload PDFs or capture images using your device's native camera or gallery applications. These files are processed locally on your device to extract text.
Extracted Text and Game Titles: The extracted text and game titles are securely transmitted to and stored in our cloud database (Firebase Firestore) so you can query them later.
Questions and Prompts: The questions you ask the AI regarding the game rules are sent to our backend services to generate answers.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
To create and manage your account.
To store your game rulebooks and allow you to access them across your devices.
To process your questions using AI (Google's Gemini API) and provide accurate rule interpretations.
To improve our application and develop new features.
4. In-App Purchases and Billing
Our application offers in-app purchases (e.g., buying additional game slots). We use Google Play Billing to process these transactions securely.
Payment Information: We do not collect or store your full credit card details or billing address. All payment processing is handled securely by Google Play.
Purchase History: We keep a record of your purchases (such as unlocked game slots) in your Firebase account to ensure your features are available across devices.
5. Third-Party Services
We may share your information with third-party service providers that perform services for us or on our behalf. Our application utilizes the following third-party services:
Google Play Services: For core Android functionality.
Firebase Authentication: To securely log you in and manage your session.
Firebase Cloud Firestore: To securely store your extracted game rules and history in the cloud.
Firebase Cloud Functions: To securely process your rule queries on the backend.
Google Generative AI (Gemini API): To analyze the rule text and generate answers to your questions. The text and questions you submit are processed by this API.
6. Device Permissions
Our app may request the following permissions:
Internet Access: Required to authenticate your account, synchronize your game library, process AI queries, and handle in-app purchases.
Billing Access: Required to communicate securely with Google Play to process and verify in-app purchases.
(Note: RuleBox utilizes your device's native camera and file selection interfaces to add game rules, and therefore does not directly require or request system Camera or Storage permissions.)
7. Data Security & Retention
We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your personal information. Your data is stored securely using Google's Firebase infrastructure.
Data Deletion: You can delete any saved game from your library within the app. Doing so will permanently delete the associated rule text from our cloud database. Furthermore, deleting your account from the settings menu will permanently remove all your user data and rulebooks from our servers.
8. Local Storage
We use local databases (Room) to cache your past questions and answers, reducing data usage and providing faster responses when you ask a previously answered question.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
