# Privacy Policy for Tally Counter
**Last updated:** Jun 04, 2026
**App:** Tally Counter
**Package name:** `com.tallycounter.tallycounter`
**Developer:** GeniusCode Lab
This Privacy Policy describes how Tally Counter (“the App”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use our Android application published by **GeniusCode Lab**.
If you have questions about this policy, contact us at: **geniuscodelab89@gmail.com**
---
## Summary
Tally Counter is a counting app. **We do not operate our own servers and we do not require an account.** Almost all data stays **on your device**. We do **not** sell your data, show ads, or use analytics SDKs to track you across apps.
The App may communicate with **Google Play** for purchases, app updates, and optional rating prompts. If you choose **Send feedback** in Settings, you can email us using **your** mail app — we only receive what you send.
---
## 1. Information the App stores on your device
The App stores data locally so it can remember your counts and settings. This data is **not sent to us** unless you choose to export it (see Section 4) or email us voluntarily (see Section 3).
### Counter and saved data
Stored in a local database on your device:
- Classic counter value, lap/target settings, step sizes, and step presets
- Multi-counter names, values, targets, colors, sort order, and step sizes
- Saved items (classic snapshots and multi-counter session snapshots), including titles you enter
### App preferences
Stored in local app preferences on your device:
- Theme, accent color, sound, vibration, animation, and display options
- Lock screen controls, touch lock, volume-button counting, and similar settings
- Onboarding/coach-mark flags, filter/sort choices, and Pro unlock status (derived from purchase verification)
- Internal counters used for features such as reset count and rating prompt state
**You control this data.** You can change or delete it inside the App, clear app storage in Android settings, or uninstall the App to remove it from your device.
---
## 2. Permissions the App may use
The App requests only the permissions needed for its features:
| Permission | Why it is used |
|------------|----------------|
| **Vibrate** | Optional haptic feedback when counting (if enabled in settings). |
| **Post notifications** | Required on Android 13+ for lock screen +/− controls, which appear as an ongoing notification while Classic Counter is active. |
| **Foreground service** | Keeps lock screen counter controls available while you are counting. |
| **Google Play Billing** | Processes the optional one-time **Pro** purchase through Google Play. |
The App does **not** request broad access to your contacts, microphone, camera, location, or your entire photo library.
### Feedback attachments (no extra storage permission)
**Settings → Help & support → Send feedback** lets you optionally attach screenshots or videos using Android’s **system picker** (you choose specific files). The App does not upload those files to our servers. They are passed only to the mail or share app **you** select when you send the message, under that app’s privacy policy.
Notification permission is **required** for lock screen controls. If you deny it, that feature is turned off.
---
## 3. Network use and third-party services
The App has **no backend of its own**. Network access is used only when you use features that talk to Google Play, open a browser/store link, or send email through another app on your device.
### Google Play Billing
If you buy **Pro**, purchase and entitlement verification are handled by **Google Play**. We receive purchase confirmation through Google’s billing system so Pro features can be unlocked on your device. We do not receive your payment card details.
Google’s privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
### Google Play In-App Updates
The App may check whether a newer version is available on Google Play and offer an in-app update. This uses Google’s Play Core libraries.
### Ratings and Play Store links
- **Automatic prompt:** After enough classic counter use (for example, many resets), the App may offer Google’s **in-app review** flow. Whether any UI appears is controlled by Google; it may not show every time.
- **Settings → Help & support → Rate the App:** Shows a confirmation dialog, then opens your **Play Store** app or the app’s Play Store page in a browser so you can leave a review if you choose.
The App may open URLs such as:
when you rate the App or install an update from the store.
### Send feedback (email)
**Settings → Help & support → Send feedback** helps you compose a bug report or feature idea:
- You choose **Bug** or **Idea** and write details in the App.
- You may attach up to **three** screenshots or videos from the system picker (optional). Large images and videos are **resized or re-encoded on your device** (temporary cache files) to keep email sizes smaller; those cache files are deleted when you leave the screen.
- Tapping **Open email app** prepares a draft to **geniuscodelab89@gmail.com** in **your** installed mail or share app. **Nothing is transmitted to us until you send the email there.** The feedback screen stays open if you return without sending.
- **Include device info** (on by default) adds non-personal technical details to the draft: app version, build number, Android version, device manufacturer/model, and locale. You can turn this off before opening your mail app. We use this only to diagnose issues you report.
We do **not** operate an in-app upload server for feedback. You can also email us directly without using the form.
### What we do not use
We do **not** use Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, advertising networks, or similar cross-app tracking SDKs in this App.
---
## 4. Export and import (your choice)
If you use **Export Saved** (Pro feature), the App writes a **CSV file** to a location you choose (for example **Documents/Tally Counter**) using Android’s system **Save as** / document picker. The App does not upload the file to our servers.
If you use **Import Saved**, you choose a CSV file from your device or a cloud provider linked to the file picker. **We do not receive imported or exported files.** Any folder or app you use to store files is outside our control.
---
## 5. Backup and device transfer
Android backup is enabled for app preferences and the local database (`multi_counter_db`). If you use **Google backup** or **device-to-device transfer**, your App data may be included in backups managed by Google/your device manufacturer under their policies.
We do not operate cloud storage for your counter data.
---
## 6. Home screen widget and lock screen controls
- The **home screen widget** (Pro) displays counter information you already stored in the App and handles tap actions locally on your device.
- **Lock screen controls** show an ongoing notification with +/− buttons while Classic Counter is active. Notification content reflects your current count and optional lap/target text. This stays on your device and is not sent to us.
---
## 7. Children’s privacy
Tally Counter is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The App does not require registration. If you believe a child has provided personal information through email, exported files, or other channels you control, please contact us.
---
## 8. Data retention
Data remains on your device until you delete it in the App, clear app data, or uninstall the App. Purchase records are retained by Google Play according to Google’s policies.
If you email us, we retain your message and any attachments you send only as long as needed to respond and improve the App, unless a longer period is required by law.
---
## 9. Security
We design the App to keep data on your device. No system is completely secure; you are responsible for securing your device and any files or emails you export or share.
---
## 10. Your choices
You can:
- Turn off vibration, notifications, lock screen controls, and other features in **Settings**
- Deny notification permission (lock screen controls will not work)
- Delete saved counters and saved library items in the App
- Clear app storage or uninstall the App
- Manage backup in your Android/Google account settings
- Request a refund for purchases through Google Play according to Google’s refund policies
- Use **Send feedback** without attachments, turn off **Include device info**, or email us directly at **geniuscodelab89@gmail.com**
- Decline or ignore rating prompts
Because we do not operate accounts or servers for counting data, we cannot delete data from your device remotely. Uninstalling the App or clearing its storage removes local data.
---
## 11. International users
The App is available in multiple languages (including English and Arabic). Data processing described here occurs **on your device** and through **Google Play** or **your email provider** when you use those optional features.
If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or other regions with privacy laws, your rights may include access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, and portability for personal data **you hold or that Google or your mail provider processes**. Contact us using the email above; for Google Play purchase data, you may also need to contact Google.
---
## 12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy. For significant changes, we may also notify you in the App or on the Play Store listing.

## Google Play Data safety (reference)
For Play Console **Data safety** declarations, this App generally:
- Does **not** collect personal or sensitive user data to developer-operated servers
- Stores app activity/content **locally** (counter values, names you enter, settings)
- Uses Google Play for **purchase history / app interactions** related to billing and updates
- Does **not** share data with third parties for advertising
- Allows optional **user-initiated export** of saved data (CSV to a folder you choose on device)
- Allows optional **user-initiated email** for support (message, optional attachments, optional device/version info) — collected only if the user sends email to us; not collected automatically by the App
Adjust Play Console answers if your published build or features change.
