2. DETAILED PERMISSIONS BREAKDOWN: WHY ARE THEY NEEDED?

To function effectively, Stardew Quick-DL requests only two scoped permissions. Here is an honest and transparent explanation of each:
A. "storage" Permission
• What it is used for:
The extension uses Chrome's built-in local storage API (chrome.storage.local) exclusively to save your UI preferences (such as enabling or disabling 1-click Quick-DL buttons, countdown bypass assist, auto-download triggers, and notification toasts) and to remember your local "Mods Downloaded" count.
• What it DOES NOT do:
It does NOT save any personal details, browsing history, login credentials, or identifying information. All stored values remain strictly on your local computer.
B. Host Permission: "https://*.nexusmods.com/*"
• What it is used for:
This scoped host permission allows the extension's content script to run only when you visit Nexus Mods web pages. Specifically, it enables the extension to:
1. Insert user-friendly "⚡ Quick-DL" buttons onto mod tiles, search listings, mod headers, and the Files tab.
2. Send an authenticated request to the official Nexus Mods download manager endpoint (/Core/Libs/Common/Managers/Downloads?GenerateDownloadUrl) to generate direct download links without requiring you to manually click through multiple subpages.
• What it DOES NOT do:
The extension cannot read or interact with any other websites you visit. It does not monitor your general web browsing, intercept your passwords, or capture your Nexus Mods credentials.

3. ARE ALL THESE PERMISSIONS REALLY NECESSARY?

YES, but strictly and only the minimal set required for core functionality:
• Why Host Permission is indispensable:
Without permission to run on nexusmods.com, Chrome's security model will not allow any script to inject the Quick-DL buttons into the page DOM or make the download URL generation request on your behalf.
Importantly, we do NOT use broad permissions like "<all_urls>" or "*://*/*". The permission is tightly locked to Nexus Mods.
• Why Storage is indispensable:
Without the storage API, your preference toggles (e.g. disabling notifications or toggling countdown bypass) would be forgotten every single time you close your browser or navigate to a new page.
• What we intentionally DO NOT request:
To protect your privacy, we intentionally avoid requesting:
- NO "cookies" permission (the browser handles your existing session naturally).
- NO "webRequest" permission (no traffic interception or inspection).
- NO "tabs" permission (we do not spy on your other browser tabs).
- NO "identity" permission (we do not access your Google or external account).
- NO background network access to foreign domains.

4. DATA SECURITY & THIRD-PARTY DISCLOSURE

5. USER CONTROL & DELETION

You maintain complete control at all times:
• You can toggle features on or off in the popup at any time.
• You can reset your download statistics with a single click using the "Reset stats" button in the popup.
• Uninstalling the extension immediately and automatically wipes all locally stored preferences from your browser.
