7. VPN Functionality
The extension uses a VPN configuration to intercept and inspect HTTP/HTTPS traffic for debugging and development purposes.
Information Collected
Through the VPN functionality, the app collects the following information:
Network request and response data (HTTP/HTTPS traffic) that passes through the VPN
Domain names and URLs of websites and services accessed through the VPN
Request headers and response data for analysis and debugging
Connection metadata (IP addresses, ports) necessary for the proper functioning of the proxy service
The app does NOT collect or store:
Personal user identification information
Passwords or authentication credentials
Browsing history beyond the current session (unless explicitly saved by the user)
Device information beyond what's necessary for VPN operation
Location data or other sensitive personal information
Purposes of Collection
The collected information is used exclusively for the following purposes:
Traffic Analysis and Debugging: To help developers inspect, analyze, and debug HTTP/HTTPS requests and responses during app development
Request Modification: To allow users to rewrite or modify requests for testing and development purposes
Domain Filtering: To selectively capture only traffic from specific domains as configured by the user
Script Execution: To enable users to run custom JavaScript scripts to process requests or responses for testing
Local History: To provide a temporary record of captured traffic for analysis within the current debugging session
All data processing happens locally on the user's device. The VPN functionality is designed as a development tool to help users debug their own applications and network traffic.
Technical Implementation
The extension uses NEVPNManager APIs to create a local VPN connection that routes network traffic through a local proxy server:
Purpose: We implement a local VPN tunnel to route device traffic through our local proxy (running on 127.0.0.1) to enable features like request filtering, monitoring, and modification for debugging and development purposes.
Implementation Details:
We use NETunnelProviderManager to create and manage a VPN configuration
The VPN is configured as a local tunnel
We don't connect to any external VPN servers - all traffic is processed locally on the device
The VPN configuration includes parameters for the local proxy host (typically 127.0.0.1) and port (9099)
User Control:
Users can enable/disable the VPN connection through our app interface
The VPN status is monitored and displayed to users (connected, connecting, disconnected)
Users can modify proxy settings as needed for their development workflow
Data Sharing
The data collected through the VPN is not shared with any third parties. All traffic data is:
Processed locally on the user's device
Only stored temporarily in the app's local storage
Only accessible to the user of the app
Not transmitted to external servers except when explicitly initiated by the user (e.g., when forwarding traffic to another device for debugging)
The app includes user authentication functionality, but this is solely for user account management and does not involve sharing the VPN-captured traffic data with third parties.
If users choose to export their captured traffic history (in HAR format), this exported data remains under their control and is not automatically uploaded to any server.
8. Policy Updates
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any significant changes will be notified through the extension. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the new privacy policy.
