Privacy Policy — Sunhalo
Effective date: July 20, 2026
Sunhalo ("the app," "we") is a UV index and sun-safety app. This policy explains what information the app handles, where it goes, and your choices. The short version: we don't have user accounts, we don't sell data, we don't track you across other apps, and your personal content never leaves your device.
Information we handle
Location (with your permission). Sunhalo uses your device location to show the live UV index, weather, sun position, and golden hour times where you are. Your coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com), a weather data provider, solely to retrieve the forecast for your area. Coordinates are not stored by us, are not linked to your identity, and are never used for advertising. You can decline or revoke location access in iOS Settings at any time; the app remains usable without it, with reduced functionality.
Purchases and subscription status. Premium purchases are processed by Apple through your Apple ID. We use Superwall (superwall.com) to display purchase screens and manage subscription entitlements. Superwall receives anonymous purchase events and paywall interaction analytics—such as which screen was viewed and whether a purchase was completed—associated with a random identifier, not your name, email, or Apple ID. See Superwall's privacy policy at superwall.com/privacy for details. We never see or store your payment details.
Health-related inputs you provide. Your skin-type selection, SPF preference, sun sessions, vitamin D estimates, and journal notes are stored only on your device and in your device backups. They are never transmitted to us or to any third party.
Photos. Journal photos you take or select are saved only on your device. The app has no upload capability for photos. The camera is also used for an optional on-screen visual effect ("UV camera"). That video feed is processed live on the device and is never recorded or transmitted.
Notifications. Reminders—including turn, reapply, and session-end reminders—are scheduled locally on your device. We do not operate a push-notification server.
What we don't do
No user accounts and no collection of names, emails, or contact details.
No advertising SDKs, data brokers, or sale or sharing of personal data.
No tracking across other companies' apps or websites. The app declares "Tracking: No" in its Apple privacy manifest.
Data retention and deletion
Everything the app stores lives on your device. Deleting the app deletes all of it, including sessions, journal entries, photos, and preferences. Anonymous purchase records held by Apple and Superwall follow their respective retention policies.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under the GDPR and CCPA/CPRA, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. Because Sunhalo keeps your data on your device and holds no account data about you, you can exercise these rights directly: view everything in the app and delete everything by deleting the app.
For anything related to purchase records, contact Apple or reach us at the address below.
Children
Sunhalo is not directed at children under 13—or the equivalent minimum age in your region—and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Health disclaimer
Burn-time and vitamin D figures are educational estimates based on your inputs and public UV data. They are not medical advice, and the app is not a medical device.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the effective date. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
