SlowRead ("we," "our," or "us") values your privacy. This Privacy Policy

explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your information

when you use our app. SlowRead is designed to be local-first: most of your

data never leaves your device.

1. Information We Collect

Personal Information

We may collect your name and email address when you sign in with Apple or

Google. You may also use the app in Guest Mode without creating an

account, in which case no personal sign-in information is collected.

Your Reading Data (stored on your device)

The books you add and their reading status, your libraries and shelves,

tags, notes, reading sessions, streaks, and any cover or spine photos you

capture are stored locally on your device. This content is not sent to or

stored on our servers.

Book Search Queries

When you search for a book, the title or author text you enter is sent to

third-party book databases (Google Books, Open Library, NeoDB) to return

matching titles, covers, and details. These queries do not include your

identity.

Non-Personal Information

In the App Store version of the app we may collect usage data such as:

- Number of reading sessions and features used

- App interactions

- Device type

This data helps us improve and optimize the app, and it is disabled in

beta (TestFlight) builds.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use collected data to:

- Provide and operate the app's features

- Create and secure your account, if you choose to sign in

- Process and restore your SlowRead Pro subscription

- Understand usage to improve accuracy, performance, and features

- Respond to support requests

We never use your information for advertising, tracking, or profiling, and

we never sell it.

3. Data Storage and Retention

On-Device Data

Your library, reading history, notes, and photos are stored locally on

your device only. You can delete them at any time from within the app, and

they are removed when you delete the app.

Account Information

If you create an account, your name and email are stored securely with

Firebase (Google Cloud) to manage your account. You can delete your

account from within the app, which removes your account record, or email

us to request deletion.

App Blocking (Screen Time)

The focus feature uses Apple's Family Controls / Screen Time framework.

The apps you choose to block are represented by opaque tokens managed

entirely by iOS on your device. We never receive or see the list of apps

you select.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers. We

share information only with the service providers needed to operate the

app:

- Apple — Sign in with Apple, App Store subscriptions, and Screen Time.

- Google / Firebase — Google Sign-In, authentication, account storage,

configuration, and abuse prevention.

- RevenueCat — subscription management. Purchase transactions are

processed by Apple's App Store; we do not have access to your payment

details.

- PostHog — product analytics.

- Google Books, Open Library, NeoDB — book search results and metadata.

These providers may process data on servers outside your country,

including outside the EU/EEA; where required, transfers are protected by

appropriate safeguards.

5. Children's Privacy

SlowRead is intended for users 13 years of age or older. We do not

knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we become

aware that a minor has provided personal data, we will promptly delete it.

6. Updates to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be

posted with a revised effective date. Your continued use of the app

constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
