ZHIONIX built the ScanDtext app as a document scanning and productivity tool. ScanDtext helps you scan documents, scan ID cards, scan QR codes, extract text using OCR, analyze documents with Doc Lens, convert text to handwriting, convert documents to audio, create page layouts, sign and annotate documents, edit documents, and organize your scanned files.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, protect, and handle your information. By installing or using ScanDtext, you agree to the terms described here.
The short version: ScanDtext has no servers. Your scanned documents, ID card images, extracted text, signatures, annotations, watermarks, and edited files stay on your device unless you choose to export or share them. Google services used for advertising, analytics, consent management, ML Kit delivery, and diagnostics may collect limited device, advertising, usage, and diagnostic data as described in Sections 6, 7, 10, and 12.
ScanDtext is intended for users 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly allow use by individuals under 18.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will delete it. If you believe a child is using the app, please contact us at the address in Section 18 so we can take appropriate action.
ScanDtext collects only the minimal data necessary to operate.
A. User-Provided Information
1. Profile Information
ScanDtext does not require sign-up or account creation. During initial setup you may enter a name to personalise the in-app experience. Any name you enter is stored only on your device using SharedPreferences. It is never uploaded, transmitted, or shared with any server or third party.
2. Scanned Content and Documents
This includes:
Scanned document images
Scanned ID card images
QR code scan results
OCR-extracted text
Annotations, signatures, watermarks, and edits you apply
Text you type for Text-to-Handwriting or DocuVoice
Page Canvas layouts and notes
Generated audio files from DocuVoice
Document titles, types, and timestamps
All scanned content and generated files are saved only on your device in ScanDtext's private app storage. We do not collect, store, or transmit this data to any server.
3. Government ID Images
ID card scans are the most sensitive content ScanDtext handles, and we treat them accordingly. ID card images are captured and processed entirely on your device and saved only in ScanDtext's private app storage. They are never uploaded, transmitted, analysed remotely, or shared with ZHIONIX or any third party, and they are excluded from cloud backup as described in Section 5.

4. Camera Input
The Camera permission is used only when you actively launch a scanning feature, such as Document Scanner, ID Card Scanner, QR Scanner, or Doc Lens. Camera frames are processed live on your device and discarded after use. We do not record, save, or transmit camera frames outside the active scanning session.
5. Imported Images
Some features let you use an image already on your device instead of the camera. ScanDtext uses Android's built-in system photo picker for this. ScanDtext receives access only to the image you select. The app cannot browse, index, or read the rest of your photo library, and it does not request broad photo or media permissions.
6. Saved Signatures
If you create signatures, they are stored locally on your device in SharedPreferences. Up to three recent signatures are retained. They are never transmitted off your device.
B. Automatically Collected Information by Third-Party Services
Certain third-party services may automatically collect:
Advertising ID
Device identifiers
IP address
App usage statistics
Device model and OS version
Crash logs and diagnostics
App open, install, and retention events
This collection is performed directly by Google services such as AdMob, Google Analytics for Firebase, and UMP, not by ZHIONIX. Google ML Kit may also download required components and collect limited technical performance and usage information. We do not receive your scanned content, ID images, extracted text, or documents through these services.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use information strictly to:
Provide document scanning and productivity features
Personalise your app experience by displaying your chosen name
Display ads through AdMob, with consent where required
Process images locally for OCR and document detection
Convert text to speech using your device's built-in TTS engine
Improve app stability and performance
Your scanned documents, extracted text, signatures, and personal content are never shared, sold, or uploaded by ZHIONIX.
5. Local Storage, Backup, and Security
All scanned documents, extracted text, signatures, edits, and generated files are stored locally on your device in ScanDtext's private app storage directory. ScanDtext does not operate any cloud servers.
Automatic Cloud Backup
ScanDtext explicitly disables Android's automatic cloud backup. Your scanned documents, ID card images, extracted text, and signatures are not copied to Google Drive or another cloud service through Android automatic backup.
If you uninstall and reinstall ScanDtext, your documents and saved signatures will not return.
Device-to-Device Transfer
If you set up a new phone and choose Android's direct device-to-device transfer during setup, the operating system may copy ScanDtext's app data from your old device to your new device. This transfer happens between devices you control. ZHIONIX does not receive or access the transferred content.
Sharing Your Documents
Your data leaves ScanDtext only when you choose to:
Share a document or image using the Android Share Sheet
Save an image to your gallery
Export a PDF to your Downloads folder
Export an audio file generated by DocuVoice
FileProvider
ScanDtext uses Android's FileProvider to securely share files only with apps you explicitly select.
Files you save to your gallery, export to Downloads, or share with other apps leave ScanDtext's private storage protection. Once shared, they are governed by the receiving app and your device settings.
6. On-Device Machine Learning (Google ML Kit)
ScanDtext uses Google ML Kit for:
Document edge detection and document scanning
Text recognition and OCR
Barcode and QR code scanning
Image and text analysis for these features is performed on your device. ScanDtext does not upload your scanned images, ID images, or extracted text to ZHIONIX servers.
Google Play Services may download required ML Kit models or components and may collect limited technical performance and usage information.

7. Advertising (AdMob) and Consent (UMP)
ScanDtext uses Google AdMob to display ads and Google User Messaging Platform to manage privacy choices where required.

Where required by applicable law or Google's policies, Google may show a consent or privacy message before ads are requested. The options shown may vary by region.
You can also manage advertising choices through your device's Google advertising settings.

This data is collected directly by Google. AdMob does not receive your scanned documents, ID images, extracted text, signatures, or edited document content from ScanDtext.
8. Text-to-Speech (DocuVoice)
The DocuVoice feature uses your device's built-in Android Text-to-Speech engine to convert text to audio.
The TTS engine and voices are provided by your device's operating system, such as Google TTS or Samsung TTS.
ScanDtext does not control what data the underlying TTS engine may process. Generated audio files are saved only on your device.

9. Permissions We Request
ScanDtext requests only the permissions essential to its features.
CAMERA
Used for Document Scanner, ID Card Scanner, QR Scanner, and Doc Lens.
INTERNET
Used to display advertisements through AdMob.
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE / ACCESS_WIFI_STATE
Used by AdMob to manage ad delivery and network availability.
AD_ID
Used by AdMob for the advertising identifier where available.
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE — Android 9 and below only
Used to save exported images on older Android devices.
ScanDtext does not request location, contacts, SMS, microphone, or broad photo and media library permissions.
10. Log Data
Google services integrated with the app may collect:

ScanDtext does not intentionally include scanned content, extracted text, signatures, ID images, or personal documents in diagnostic reports.
11. Cookies
The app itself does not use cookies. Third-party services such as AdMob may use cookie-like identifiers for analytics and advertising.
You can reset or limit ad tracking through your device's Google advertising settings.

13. Data Retention and Deletion
All scanned documents and personal content are stored only on your device.
Uninstalling the app permanently deletes app data.
You may delete individual documents from within the app.
You may clear all documents through Profile → Clear All Documents.
Because ZHIONIX holds no copy of your documents, there is nothing for us to delete from a server.

14. Your Rights and Ad Preferences
You can manage your advertising choices through your device's Google advertising settings. Users in eligible regions may also manage available choices through Google-managed consent or privacy messages when shown.
GDPR — European Economic Area and United Kingdom
Our legal bases for processing may include:

Legitimate interest for app stability, diagnostics, security, and fraud prevention
You may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of personal data and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
ZHIONIX does not hold copies of your scanned documents or personal app content. Requests concerning advertising data collected by Google should be directed to Google.
CCPA / CPRA — California
ZHIONIX does not sell your personal information and does not receive or monetise your scanned content.
Personalised advertising delivered through AdMob may constitute sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising under applicable law. Where available, you can manage these choices through Google's privacy message or your device's Google advertising settings.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.
15. Links to External Websites
ScanDtext may contain links to external websites. These websites are not operated by ZHIONIX.
We recommend reviewing the privacy policy of any external service you visit. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of third-party websites.
16. Security
ScanDtext stores your content in the app's private storage directory, which other apps normally cannot access.
Data transmitted by AdMob and Google Play Services is encrypted in transit using HTTPS.
No electronic storage method is completely secure. Because your documents remain on your device unless you export or share them, their security also depends on your device protections. We recommend using a screen lock and keeping your device software updated.
17. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated occasionally. Changes will be posted on this page and reflected in the Last Updated date.
Continued use of ScanDtext after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
