Privacy Policy

SayDarija is operated by El Hassnaoui Yassine. The app works without requiring an account and processes only the information needed to provide its tutor and practice features.

Information We Process

When you use the AI tutor, we process your message, recent conversation context, selected learning level, learning preferences, and interface language.

When AI-generated speech is available, the phrase text may also be processed to generate pronunciation audio.

Please do not include sensitive personal, financial, medical, or confidential information in tutor messages.

AI Processing and Third Parties

AI requests are sent through our backend hosted by Vercel and routed through OpenRouter to an underlying AI model provider.

Current providers may include:

• OpenAI for tutor responses

• Google for generated speech

These services receive only the information needed to provide the requested feature and process it under their respective privacy policies.

We do not sell tutor messages or use them for advertising. OpenRouter states that it does not use API inputs or outputs to train its models. Underlying model providers may have their own retention and data-use practices.

We select and configure providers to protect information consistently with this policy and applicable law. Provider practices may change, and the applicable provider privacy policies control their independent processing.

Voice Practice

If you choose voice practice, SayDarija requests microphone and speech-recognition permission.

Speech recognition is provided through Apple system services and may require Apple to process your audio. SayDarija does not intentionally store raw microphone recordings on its servers.

You can revoke microphone or speech-recognition permission at any time through iOS Settings.

Information Stored on Your Device

The following information is normally stored locally on your device:

• Saved phrases

• Conversation history

• Learning preferences

• Review progress

• Practice history

• Streak information

• Reminder settings

• Usage counters

• AI consent preference

You can remove this information inside the app or by deleting SayDarija from your device.

Technical Information

Our hosting providers may process limited technical information, such as your IP address, request time, device or operating-system information, and error details.

We use this information to:

• Deliver requests

• Apply rate limits

• Prevent abuse

• Maintain security

• Troubleshoot problems

• Operate and improve the service

Purchases and Notifications

Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your complete payment-card information.

If you enable reminders, Apple notification services deliver the reminders you request.

AI Consent

Before SayDarija sends personal information to a third-party AI service, the app explains what will be sent, identifies the recipients, and asks for your permission.

You may decline AI processing. Features that require AI will not work, but local features may remain available.

You may withdraw AI consent at any time in the app’s Privacy & AI settings.

Retention and Deletion

SayDarija does not intentionally keep tutor messages in its own permanent server database.

Messages are transmitted to generate a response and may temporarily appear in infrastructure, security, or diagnostic records. Operational records are retained only for the limited period needed to operate and protect the service, unless a longer period is required by law or necessary to investigate abuse.

Third-party providers may retain information according to their own policies.

To request access, correction, or deletion of information, email Elhassnaoui.yassinee@gmail.com. We will process valid requests and coordinate with relevant providers where reasonably possible.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards, including encrypted HTTPS connections, to protect information.

However, no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Children

SayDarija is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.

Your Choices

You can:

• Delete saved phrases and conversations inside SayDarija

• Withdraw AI consent in the app

• Disable reminders

• Revoke microphone or speech-recognition permission in iOS Settings

• Manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple ID subscription settings

• Request access, correction, or deletion of personal information by contacting us

Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or obtain a copy of your personal information.

International Processing

Our service providers may process information outside your country, including in the United States.

Where required, appropriate legal safeguards are used for international transfers.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when SayDarija’s features, providers, or legal obligations change.

We will update the effective date and provide additional notice when required.
