Privacy Policy for NotiBudget: Expense Tracker
Last updated: August 23, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how NotiBudget: Expense Tracker ("NotiBudget", "we", "our", or "us"), developed by Krydecres, handles your information when you use our mobile application (the "App") on Android devices.
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the App, you agree to the practices described below.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
1. OVERVIEW: LOCAL-FIRST ARCHITECTURE
NotiBudget is built on a local-first, zero-backend principle. All your financial data — including transaction amounts, merchant names, account details, and budget information — is processed and stored exclusively on your device. We do not operate any server or backend that receives, stores, or processes your personal financial data.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT AND HOW WE COLLECT IT
2.1 Notification Content (Stays On-Device)
If you grant NotiBudget Notification Access in your Android Settings, the App reads incoming notifications from financial apps such as banking apps, e-wallets, and payment applications that are installed on your device.
From these notifications, the App extracts:
- Transaction amounts and currencies
- Transaction type (debit, credit, transfer, etc.)
- Merchant or recipient names (when available)
- Account identifiers (partial account numbers shown in the notification)
- Transaction timestamps
IMPORTANT: This information is processed entirely on your device using local algorithms. Notification content and the extracted financial data are NEVER sent to our servers, any developer-owned backend, or any third party. We do not have a server to receive this data.
2.2 Manually Entered Data (Stays On-Device)
You may manually add, edit, or delete transactions, categories, and budgets within the App. All manually entered data is stored locally in an encrypted local database on your device only.
2.3 App Usage Data (Firebase Analytics)
The App may collect anonymized, aggregated usage events through Google Firebase Analytics. This may include:
- Which screens you visit within the App
- App session duration
- General feature usage patterns (e.g., how often categories are created)
- Device type, operating system version, and language settings
- App version and crash/error reports
Firebase Analytics does NOT collect:
- Your notification content
- Transaction amounts or merchant names
- Your bank account or financial account information
- Any personally identifiable financial data
Firebase Analytics data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. You can learn more at: https://policies.google.com/privacy
2.4 Advertising Data (Google AdMob)
The App displays banner advertisements served by Google AdMob. To serve relevant ads, Google AdMob may collect:
- Advertising ID (Google Advertising ID / GAID)
- Device type and operating system version
- IP address (used to determine approximate geographic location)
- General app usage signals
Google AdMob does NOT receive any of your financial data, notification content, or transaction information from NotiBudget. The advertising and financial processing components of the App are completely isolated from each other.
Ad-related data collection is governed by Google's Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
You can opt out of personalized advertising in your device's Google settings under "Ads".
2.5 Consent and Privacy Choices (Google User Messaging Platform)
On first launch, the App may display a consent form managed by Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to comply with privacy regulations such as GDPR (European Economic Area) and CCPA (California). This form asks for your preferences regarding personalized advertising.
Your consent choice is stored locally on your device and communicated to Google's advertising infrastructure to control how ads are served to you.
2.6 Purchase Data (Google Play Billing)
If you purchase a premium version or any in-app purchase, the transaction is processed entirely by Google Play. We receive only:
- A confirmation token indicating that a purchase was made
- The product ID purchased
We do not receive your payment card details, billing address, or any other financial payment information. All billing is handled by Google Play and governed by Google's Payments Privacy Notice: https://payments.google.com/payments/apis-secure/get_legal_document?ldo=0&ldt=privacynotice
2.7 Boot Broadcast
The App listens for the RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED broadcast to restart the notification listener service after your device reboots. No data is collected at this point; it is purely used to restore App functionality.
2.8 Network Status
The App checks network connectivity status (ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE) to determine whether to attempt to load advertisements. This information is not stored or transmitted.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
3. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
3.1 Financial Data (Local Only)
- Parse and categorize financial transactions from notifications
- Display your expense history, spending summaries, and budget progress
- Generate local reports and charts
- Send local budget alert notifications on your device (if you opt in to POST_NOTIFICATIONS)
3.2 Analytics Data
- Understand how users interact with the App in aggregate
- Identify crashes and technical issues to improve App stability
- Improve features and user experience
3.3 Advertising Data
- Display banner advertisements within the App to support free access
- Personalized ads if you have consented; non-personalized ads if you have not
3.4 Purchase Data
- Verify that a purchase has been completed to unlock premium features
- Allow you to restore purchases if you reinstall the App
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
4. DATA STORAGE AND SECURITY
4.1 Local Storage
All financial data is stored in a local SQLite database (via Room) on your device. The App sets android:allowBackup="false", which means your financial database is NOT included in Android automatic backups to Google Drive or any other cloud service.
4.2 Security Measures
- Financial data never leaves your device through our systems
- The App does not include any code that transmits transaction data, notification text, or financial identifiers to any remote server operated by us
- Network access in the App is limited to: loading advertisements (AdMob), submitting the consent form (UMP), processing in-app purchases (Play Billing), and sending anonymous analytics events (Firebase Analytics)
4.3 Data Retention
Your financial data remains on your device until you delete it within the App or uninstall the App. Uninstalling the App will permanently delete all locally stored data.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
5. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
The App integrates the following third-party services. Each service operates under its own privacy policy, and we encourage you to review them:
| Service | Purpose | Privacy Policy |
|-------------------------------|--------------------------------------|------------------------------------------------|
| Google AdMob | Banner advertisements | https://policies.google.com/privacy |
| Google Firebase Analytics | Anonymous app usage analytics | https://policies.google.com/privacy |
| Google User Messaging Platform| Consent management (GDPR/CCPA) | https://policies.google.com/privacy |
| Google Play Billing | In-app purchases | https://payments.google.com (Privacy Notice) |
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
6. NOTIFICATION ACCESS — SPECIAL PERMISSION
NotiBudget's core feature requires you to grant "Notification Access" in your Android Settings (Settings > Apps > Special app access > Notification access). This is a sensitive permission.
What we do with Notification Access:
- We read incoming notifications ONLY to detect and extract financial transaction data
- All parsing happens locally on your device using on-device algorithms
- Notification text is processed in memory and the relevant financial fields are saved to your local database
- Raw notification text is NOT stored permanently in the database and is NOT transmitted anywhere
What we do NOT do with Notification Access:
- We do not read or store notifications from non-financial apps for any purpose other than discarding them
- We do not send notification content to any server, including our own
- We do not build advertising profiles from your notification data
- We do not share notification content with any third party
You may revoke Notification Access at any time by going to Settings > Apps > Special app access > Notification access and disabling NotiBudget. Revoking this permission will stop automatic transaction detection, but the App will remain functional for manual entry and reviewing existing data.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
7. YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES
7.1 Access and Deletion
Since all your financial data is stored locally on your device, you have full control:
- You can view all your data within the App
- You can delete individual transactions, categories, or budgets within the App
- You can delete all data by clearing the App's data (Settings > Apps > NotiBudget > Clear Data) or by uninstalling the App
7.2 Notification Access
You may grant or revoke Notification Access at any time via your device's Settings.
7.3 Post Notifications Permission
You may grant or revoke permission for the App to send local budget alert notifications via your device's Settings.
7.4 Advertising Preferences
- To opt out of personalized advertising: Open your device's Settings > Google > Ads > Opt out of Ads Personalization
- To reset your Advertising ID: Settings > Google > Ads > Reset advertising ID
- In regions covered by GDPR (European Economic Area) or CCPA (California), you will be presented with a consent dialog on first launch where you can choose non-personalized ads
7.5 Firebase Analytics Opt-Out
You may request opt-out of Firebase Analytics collection by contacting us at the email below. We will provide instructions to disable analytics collection on your device.
7.6 GDPR Rights (European Economic Area Residents)
If you are located in the EEA, you have rights including:
- The right to access your personal data
- The right to correct inaccurate personal data
- The right to erasure ("right to be forgotten")
- The right to restriction of processing
- The right to data portability
- The right to object to processing
Because your financial data is stored locally on your device, you can exercise most of these rights directly within the App. For data held by third-party services (Google AdMob, Firebase Analytics), please refer to Google's privacy controls at: https://myaccount.google.com/data-and-privacy
7.7 CCPA Rights (California Residents)
California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell your personal information.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
8. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
NotiBudget is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
9. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS
Your financial data is stored only on your device and is not transferred internationally by us. Data collected by third-party services (Google AdMob, Firebase Analytics) may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence, including the United States. These transfers are subject to Google's data transfer mechanisms and privacy protections. Please review Google's Privacy Policy for details.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
10. DATA SECURITY INCIDENT
In the unlikely event of a security incident affecting data held by our third-party service providers, we will notify affected users through the App or via the contact email below, in accordance with applicable law. Because all your financial data is stored locally on your device, a breach of our systems would not expose your transaction history, notification content, or financial account information.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
11. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy and, where required by law, by providing additional notice within the App. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
