Migrate - Data Backup respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, and protected when the backup and restore mobile application ("App") is used.
1. Information Collected
User Data: Data such as contacts, SMS, and call logs are accessed only as required to perform local backup and restore. This data is not transmitted by the App and is kept in the device’s local storage.
No Personal Data Sent to Us: Your personal data (contacts, SMS, call logs and backups) is not stored on or transmitted to any server by the App. All backup and restore processing occurs locally on the device.
Advertising Data: The App shows ads provided by Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, Google and its partners may collect certain device and usage information, such as your device's advertising ID, IP address, and ad interactions. See section 6 for details.
2. Permissions Required The App requests the following permissions to function correctly:
READ_CONTACTS: To back up and restore saved contacts.
READ_CALL_LOG / WRITE_CALL_LOG: To back up and restore call history.
READ_SMS: To back up and restore text messages.
RECEIVE_SMS: Temporarily set Migrate as the default SMS app to restore SMS. Migrate on its own does not have the capability to respond to incoming SMS.
POST_NOTIFICATIONS: To notify about backup or restore progress and results.
INTERNET: To load ads and to communicate with Google Play for optional purchases.
AD_ID (Advertising ID): Used by the ads service to serve and measure ads.
3. QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES - To see all available apps for app data backup (only applicable for root enabled devices).
During SMS restore, Android requires the app to be temporarily set as the default SMS app. This is necessary to write restored messages into the system. Once the restore process is complete, the App will prompt to switch back to the previous SMS app.
These permissions are strictly used for their stated purposes. The App does not use them for unauthorized access or data collection.
4. How Information is Used
To provide backup and restore functionality.
To show ads, which help support the development of the App.
5. Data Storage and Security
All backups remain on the device and are stored locally.
The App does not send your backup data or personal data to any server operated by the developer.
Ad-related data collected by Google AdMob is handled by Google under its own privacy policy.
6. Optional Purchases
The App offers optional in-app purchases (donations) to support the developer. Any purchase removes ads from the App. All core features remain available without a purchase. Payments are handled entirely by Google Play. The developer does not receive or store your payment card details.
7. Advertising and Analytics
The App uses Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK) to display banner ads.
Google and its partners may use device identifiers (such as the Android advertising ID) and device and usage information to serve, personalize, and measure ads, in accordance with Google's privacy policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy) and how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services (https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites).
Consent: For users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, the App asks for your consent through Google's consent form before ads are requested. You can change your choice at any time in the App under Settings > Ad privacy.
Users who make a purchase in the App no longer see ads.
The App does not include any other advertising or analytics services.
8. Children’s Privacy
The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13.
9. Changes to This Policy
The Privacy Policy may be updated periodically. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective Date" above.
