Tim Imposter (“the App”, “we”, “us”) is an offline party word game published by the Tim Imposter project. This Privacy Policy explains what information is processed when you use the App and how it is used.
By using the App, you agree to this policy.
Gameplay is local. Secret words, roles, votes, and most settings stay on your device.
No account or email login is required.
No ads and we do not sell your personal data.
We use Google Firebase for optional anonymous analytics and a minimal cloud user record (see below).
The App is suitable for a general audience, including children, when used with appropriate supervision.
The App may store the following locally (for example in secure storage or on-device databases):
Player names you enter — display during the game
Game settings — imposter count, timers, selected word packs, language
Game history — recent rounds (secret word, winners, player names)
Language preference — app interface language
Anonymous user ID — restore settings across reinstalls when cloud sync works
Device identifier — link your anonymous profile to this installation
You can clear game history from the home screen. Uninstalling the App removes locally stored data.
We do not upload secret words, player-entered names, or full game history to our servers.
When the App can reach the internet, it may send limited data to Google Firebase (Google LLC), acting as our processor:
What: Aggregated usage events such as screen views, game started/finished, onboarding completed, and technical errors (without game content).
Why: Understand app stability and improve features.
Identifiers: Firebase may collect device/app instance identifiers as described in Google’s privacy policy.
What: A random user ID, device identifier, platform (iOS/Android), app version, and timestamps (created / last seen).
Why: Anonymous profile recovery and basic product operations.
Not included: Player names, secret words, votes, or custom text you type in the game.
If Firebase is unavailable (offline or misconfiguration), the App continues to work locally; cloud sync is best-effort only.
Email, phone number, or social login
Precise location, contacts, photos, microphone, or camera (the App does not request these permissions for gameplay)
Payment or financial information (the App is free)
Advertising profiles
Where applicable, we rely on:
Legitimate interests — analytics and service reliability, balanced against your rights.
Consent — where required by your device or platform for analytics.
Contract / app functionality — providing the game you request.
The App is designed for family and party use. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children beyond what is described in this policy (anonymous technical data). Parents and guardians should supervise young players and the names entered for each game.
If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact support@timimposter.app and we will take appropriate steps.
On device: Until you delete history or uninstall the App.
Firebase: Retained according to Firebase/Google settings and our operational needs; we aim to keep cloud records minimal and anonymous.
Depending on your region, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or object to processing of your data. Because we do not operate user accounts, the fastest way to delete local data is to clear history or uninstall the App. For Firebase-related requests, email support@timimposter.app.
Firebase may process data in countries where Google operates. Google provides appropriate safeguards as described in its documentation.
We use industry-standard practices through Firebase and your device’s OS-level protections. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date will change. Continued use after updates means you accept the revised policy. Material changes may also be shown in the App.
