# Privacy Policy for ShellDock

ShellDock is an SSH and SFTP client for Android. It helps users connect to servers they configure themselves, manage SSH hosts, SSH keys, known host fingerprints, SFTP sessions, command snippets, port forwarding, and local backup/restore data.
## 1. Does ShellDock Collect Data on Our Servers?
No. ShellDock currently does not require an account, does not include a login system, does not use a ShellDock-operated backend server, does not include advertising, does not include advertising SDKs, does not include analytics SDKs, and does not include crash reporting SDKs.
Data entered into ShellDock is stored on your device and is used to provide the app's features.
## 2. Data Stored on Your Device
ShellDock may store the following data locally in the app's private storage on your device:
- Host names, server addresses, ports, and display names
- SSH usernames
- SSH passwords, if you enter and choose to save them
- SSH private keys, if you enter or generate them in the app
- Private key passphrases, if you enter and choose to save them
- Identity profiles for reuse across hosts
- Known host fingerprints
- Command snippets created by you
- Port forwarding configuration
- Terminal settings, themes, font size, and security preferences
- Backup and restore data when you intentionally export or import JSON files
This data is used so ShellDock can create SSH/SFTP connections, authenticate with servers, verify fingerprints, run commands, transfer files, save snippets, and restore your configuration when requested by you.
## 3. Connections to Servers You Configure
When you connect to a server, ShellDock uses the host information and credentials you provided to establish an SSH or SFTP connection to that server.
Authentication data, terminal commands, SFTP data, and file contents may be transmitted to the server you choose while using SSH/SFTP features. These servers are not operated by ShellDock unless you personally operate them.
ShellDock does not control, manage, or take responsibility for how external servers process your data.
## 4. Backups and Exported Files
If you use the export backup feature, ShellDock creates a JSON file at your request. This backup file may contain sensitive information such as hosts, usernames, passwords, private keys, passphrases, and command snippets.
You are responsible for protecting exported backup files. Do not share backup files with others if they contain login credentials or SSH keys. If you no longer need a backup file, you should delete it from your device or storage location.
## 5. Biometrics and App Lock
ShellDock may support app locking through biometrics or device credentials if you enable this option. Authentication is handled by Android through BiometricPrompt.
ShellDock does not receive, store, or transmit your fingerprint, face data, or biometric templates.
## 6. App Permissions
ShellDock currently uses the following Android permissions:
- `INTERNET`: used to create SSH/SFTP connections to servers configured by you.
- `ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE`: used to check network connection status.
ShellDock does not request location, contacts, camera, microphone, SMS, call log, or broad photo/video library access.
## 7. Sharing Data With Third Parties
ShellDock does not sell your personal data.
ShellDock does not share your personal data with advertisers, advertising networks, analytics providers, or a ShellDock-operated backend.
Data transmission to SSH/SFTP servers configured by you is a core part of the app's functionality and occurs only when you use connection, terminal, SFTP, port forwarding, or health check features.
## 8. Data Security
SSH and SFTP connections use encryption provided by the SSH protocol while data is transmitted between your device and the selected server.
ShellDock configuration data is stored in the app's local private storage on your device. You should protect your device with a screen lock, biometrics, or other appropriate security measures. If you export a backup, the backup may be a readable JSON file and should be protected separately.
## 9. Data Retention and Deletion
ShellDock stores local data until you delete it in the app, clear the app's data in Android settings, or uninstall the app.
You can delete data by:
- Deleting hosts, identities, snippets, or known hosts in the app
- Deleting exported backup files from your device or storage location
- Opening Android Settings and clearing ShellDock's app data
- Uninstalling ShellDock from your device
Because ShellDock does not use accounts and does not store data on a ShellDock-operated backend, there is no server-side account data for ShellDock to delete on request.
## 10. Children
ShellDock is not designed specifically for children. It is a technical tool intended for users who need to access and manage servers.
## 11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the app changes features or when legal, security, or Google Play requirements change. The updated version will be posted on the same page, and the "Last updated" date will be changed accordingly.
