Privacy Policy for Dark Mode/Theme for PRTG

1. Overview
Dark Mode/Theme for PRTG is a browser extension that applies a user-controlled dark theme to selected PRTG Network Monitor web interfaces.
The extension works locally in the user's browser. It does not require an account with the developer and does not transmit user data to the developer or third parties.
Dark Mode/Theme for PRTG is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Paessler.
2. Information Handled by the Extension
When the user opens the extension and enables dark mode for a PRTG server, the extension processes the origin of the current tab. An origin consists of:
• Protocol, such as HTTP or HTTPS
• Hostname or IP address
• Port number, when applicable
The selected origin is stored locally so the extension can remember which PRTG servers should use the dark theme.
The extension does not collect or access:
• Usernames or passwords
• Authentication cookies
• PRTG passhashes or API keys
• Sensor values or monitoring information
• Form entries
• Personal communications
• Financial or payment information
• Health information
• Complete browsing history
3. Website Access
The extension requests access only to a server that the user explicitly selects and authorizes.
On an authorized server, the extension injects a local stylesheet and content script to modify the visual appearance of the page. These components apply colors and presentation rules.
The extension does not record, extract, transmit, sell, or share the contents of PRTG pages.
4. Local Storage
The list of enabled server origins is stored using chrome.storage.local.
This information:
• Remains on the user's device
• Is used only to apply and remember the dark theme
• Is not synchronized by the extension
• Is not transmitted to the developer
• Is not shared with third parties
• Is not used for advertising or analytics
The information remains stored until the user disables the extension for that server, clears the extension's data, or uninstalls the extension.
5. Network Communications
The extension does not make network requests to the developer or to third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, or data collection services.
Normal network communications made by the PRTG website itself are outside the control of this extension and are governed by the policies of the PRTG server operator.
6. Data Sharing and Sale
The developer does not receive user data through the extension.
No user data is sold, licensed, disclosed, transferred, or shared with advertisers, data brokers, analytics providers, or other third parties.
7. Permissions
The extension uses the following browser permissions:
Storage
Used to store the origins of PRTG servers where dark mode has been enabled.
Scripting
Used to register and remove the local stylesheet and content script that apply the dark theme.
Active Tab
Used after a user action to identify the current server and reload the page when the theme is enabled or disabled.
Optional Host Access
Requested only for the server selected by the user. This permission allows the extension to apply the dark theme to that server.
The extension does not use remotely hosted code. All executable JavaScript and CSS files are included in the extension package.
8. Data Security
The extension minimizes data handling by processing only the server origin required for its user-facing dark mode feature.
Because no user information is transmitted to the developer or third parties, no external user database is maintained.
9. User Choices and Data Deletion
Users can remove locally stored information by:
• Disabling dark mode for a server
• Removing the server permission from the extension
• Clearing the extension's stored data
• Uninstalling the extension
Because the developer does not receive or store this information, the developer cannot retrieve, modify, or delete it remotely.
10. Chrome Web Store Limited Use Compliance
The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Any information handled by the extension is used only to provide its disclosed dark theme functionality. It is not used for advertising, profiling, credit assessment, or any unrelated purpose.
11. Children's Privacy
The extension does not knowingly collect personal information from children or any other users.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated if the extension's functionality or data practices change. Any material change to data handling will be disclosed to users and reflected on this page before the updated practice is introduced.
The effective date and last updated date will be revised when changes are published.
