Text-to-Speech Processing: All text parsing, speech synthesis, and audio playback run 100% locally on your device using the browser's built-in Text-to-Speech (TTS) APIs. No webpage content or text is ever sent to external servers or cloud services.
User Settings: Your preferences (such as voice choice, reading speed, pitch, and volume) are stored locally in your browser via chrome.storage.local. This data never leaves your device.
tts: Used strictly to produce audio output locally via your browser's speech synthesis engine.
activeTab & scripting: Used only when you trigger the extension to extract the text content of the active webpage and highlight the text currently being read.
storage: Used exclusively to save your reading preferences locally.
contextMenus: Used to provide a right-click shortcut allowing you to read selected text directly.
Aloud does not use third-party analytics, tracking tools, advertisements, or external APIs.
