# Privacy Policy — DryMate
**Effective date:** July 5, 2026
DryMate ("the app") is a sobriety companion that helps you count sober days, check in on your mood, journal, and track your progress. Your recovery is personal, and this policy is built around one principle: **your recovery data stays on your device.**
## The short version
- Your sobriety, mood, journal, and craving data is stored **only on your iPhone**. We have no servers, no accounts, and no way to see it.
- We do not collect analytics, run ads, track you, or sell data — to anyone.
- The only data that ever leaves your device relates to **purchases** (processed by Apple and RevenueCat) or **exports you trigger yourself**.
## Data stored on your device
The app stores the following locally on your device, and nowhere else:
- Sobriety start date, check-in history, streaks, and milestones
- Mood logs, journal entries, and craving (SOS) reflections
- Your name (optional), reasons for quitting, and drinking-habit estimates (drinks per week, cost per drink), used to calculate money and calories saved
- Garden progress (droplets, plant stage, themes)
- Reminder and appearance preferences
**Sensitive entries are encrypted.** Journal entries, craving reflections, and your optional support contact are stored in an encrypted file whose key is held in the iOS Keychain, protected by Apple's complete file protection.
Deleting the app deletes all of this data. You can also erase everything at any time with **Settings → Reset all data**.
## Optional support contact
You may add one trusted person's name and phone number so they are one tap away inside the Craving SOS tool. This is optional, stored encrypted on your device, and never transmitted. Calls you place go through your phone's normal dialer.
## Analytics and crash diagnostics (off by default, on-device only)
Both are **disabled unless you turn them on** in Settings, and even when enabled, nothing is sent to us:
- **Usage analytics:** anonymous, aggregate event counts (for example, how many check-ins occurred) written to a file on your device. No content, no identifiers.
- **Crash diagnostics:** crash reports collected by Apple's MetricKit and stored on your device.
Both can be turned off at any time, which also deletes the stored data. The only way this data leaves your device is if you explicitly export it and choose to share it with us.
## Backups and exports you control
You can export an encrypted backup of your data (protected by a passphrase you choose) or a CSV of your journal. These exports are created on your device and go only where you send them (for example, your Files app or iCloud Drive). We never receive them. If you save an export to a cloud service, that service's privacy policy applies to the copy you stored there.
## Purchases (the only third-party service)
Premium subscriptions are processed by **Apple** (we never see your payment details) and managed through **RevenueCat**, our subscription infrastructure provider. RevenueCat receives:
- An anonymous, randomly generated app user ID (not your name, email, or Apple ID)
- Your purchase receipt and subscription status
- Basic device information (such as device model and iOS version)
This is used solely to unlock premium features and restore purchases across reinstalls. RevenueCat does not receive any of your recovery data. See [RevenueCat's privacy policy](https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy).
## Notifications
Reminders (daily check-in, milestones) are **local notifications** scheduled on your device. They require your permission, can be disabled anytime in Settings or iOS Settings, and involve no server.
## Widgets
Home screen and lock screen widgets read a small progress snapshot (streak, garden stage, savings) from shared storage on your device. This data never leaves your phone.
## What we never do
- No accounts or sign-in
- No advertising and no ad networks
- No tracking across apps or websites (the app declares "no tracking" to iOS)
- No selling or sharing of personal data
- No collection of your recovery data, ever
## Children
The app is intended for adults and is not directed at children. It deals with alcohol-related content and is age-rated accordingly.
## Not medical advice
DryMate provides general wellness information and self-tracking tools. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or emergency care. If you need help, contact a healthcare professional or your local emergency services.
## Your rights
Because your data lives on your device, you are always in control: view it in the app, export it, or delete it (Settings → Reset all data, or delete the app). If you are in a region with data-protection laws (such as the EU/EEA, UK, or California), note that we hold no personal data about you on any server, so there is nothing for us to access, correct, or delete on our side — the purchase records described above are held by Apple and RevenueCat under their own policies.
## Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update it at this address and revise the effective date. Material changes (for example, if a future version ever introduced a new third-party service) will be called out in the app's release notes.
