Support & Privacy Policy
Effective Date: April 04, 2025
Welcome to D Reader Docs Viewer and Tha Reader Docs Viewer! This Privacy Policy describes how Afnet Lab ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects your information when you use the D Reader Docs Viewer or Tha Reader Docs Viewer mobile applications (collectively referred to as the "Apps").
By using the Apps, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not access or use the Apps.
1. Information We Collect
We may collect the following types of information:
Information You Provide Directly:
We do not require you to create an account or provide personally identifiable information (PII) to use the core functionalities of the Apps (viewing local documents).
If you contact us for support or feedback (e.g., via email), we may collect your name, email address, and the content of your communication.
Information Collected Automatically (Usage and Technical Data):
Device Information: Mobile device type, operating system, OS version, unique device identifiers (e.g., IDFA, Android Advertising ID - potentially used for analytics or crash reporting, usually anonymized or aggregated).
Usage Data: Information about how you interact with the Apps, such as features you use, time spent in the Apps, types of documents you open (but not their content), crash and error information. This data is typically collected in an aggregated and anonymous form to help us understand how to improve the Apps.
Log Data: Information that your browser or mobile device sends whenever you use the Apps (if a network connection is present for features like updates or error reporting).
File and Storage Access Permission:
To perform their core function of viewing documents, the Apps require permission to access storage on your device (internal storage or SD card).
The Apps only access files and folders that you actively choose to open or navigate to within the Apps.
Important: We do not collect, copy, or upload the actual content of the documents you view to our servers. Document processing occurs locally on your device.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
To Provide and Maintain the Apps: To allow you to view documents and use the Apps’ features.
To Improve and Develop the Apps: To understand how users use the Apps, identify issues, fix bugs, improve performance, and develop new features. Anonymous/aggregated usage and technical data are crucial for this purpose.
To Provide Customer Support: To respond to your questions, support requests, and feedback.
For Analytics: To monitor and analyze usage trends and activities in connection with the Apps (often through third-party analytics tools using anonymous/aggregated data).
To Comply with Legal Obligations: To comply with applicable legal or regulatory obligations, or requests from law enforcement.
3. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personally identifiable information to third parties. We may share information in the following circumstances:
With Service Providers: We may share technical and usage data (usually anonymized or aggregated) with third-party service providers who help us operate, analyze, and improve the Apps (e.g., analytics providers like Google Analytics for Firebase, crash reporting services like Crashlytics). These providers are authorized to use the information only as instructed by us and for the stated purposes.
For Legal Requirements: If required by law or in response to valid legal process (e.g., a subpoena, court order).
To Protect Rights: When we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, property, or safety, or that of our users or the public.
In Case of Business Transfers: If Afnet Lab is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of its assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction (you will be notified if applicable).
4. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we collect from unauthorized access, use, alteration, or destruction. However, please be aware that no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
The security of the document files on your device depends on the security measures you apply to the device itself (e.g., lock screen password, device encryption).
5. Permissions Explained
The Apps request the following permissions to function properly. Below is an explanation of why each permission is needed:
android.permission.ACCESS_WIFI_STATE: Allows the Apps to check the Wi-Fi connection status to determine if updates, analytics, or error reporting can be sent when connected to Wi-Fi. This helps optimize data usage.
android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Allows the Apps to detect if there is an active internet connection for features like checking for updates or sending anonymized analytics data.
android.permission.READ_PHONE_STATE: Used to retrieve device-specific information (e.g., device ID) for analytics or crash reporting purposes. This data is anonymized and does not include personal call or communication details.
android.permission.INTERNET: Enables the Apps to connect to the internet for optional features such as downloading updates, sending crash reports, or retrieving analytics data.
android.permission.READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: Required to access and display documents stored on your device’s internal storage or SD card. The Apps only access files you explicitly choose to open.
com.android.vending.BILLING: Allows the Apps to offer in-app purchases (e.g., premium features or ad removal) if applicable. This permission is only used for billing-related functionality.
android.permission.CAMERA: Used to support features like scanning documents or taking photos to convert them into viewable files within the Apps (if this feature is available). The camera is only accessed with your explicit consent.
We only request permissions necessary for the Apps’ functionality and do not misuse or overreach beyond what is described here.
6. Children's Privacy
The Apps are not intended for children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under this age. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from children without verification of parental consent, we will take steps to remove that information from our servers (if applicable).
7. Links to Other Sites/Services
The Apps may contain links to other websites or services that are not operated by us. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that third party’s site. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every site you visit. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the Apps or on our website and updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy.
