We know privacy is a big deal when it comes to browser extensions. This policy outlines exactly how Better Gemini handles your data.
The short version: we do not collect, store, or share your personal data. Everything happens locally on your device.
Better Gemini does not collect personal information, browsing history, or your conversations with Gemini. The only data the extension handles are the specific customization preferences you set in the extension popup, which include:
Toggle states (enabled/disabled)
Layout settings (content width, font size, line height)
Theme settings (colors for background, surface, accent, text, etc.)
UI preferences (e.g., hiding upgrade prompts)
All of the preferences mentioned above are saved exclusively to your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local). This data never leaves your device. We do not use remote servers, databases, or cloud syncing to store your settings.
To function properly, the extension requires the following permissions, which are strictly used for their stated purpose:
storage: Used solely to save and retrieve your visual preferences locally so your custom theme and layout persist when you close and reopen your browser.
*://gemini.google.com/*: This host permission is required so the extension can inject the necessary CSS styles to change the appearance of the Gemini web interface based on your saved settings. It does not read your chat history or interact with your prompts.
This extension contains zero tracking software. We do not use Google Analytics, telemetry, or any other third-party services to track how you use the extension.
If we add new features in the future that change how data is handled, we will update this privacy policy and request any new permissions through the browser's standard update process.
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, please feel free to contact us through the appropriate section on the Chrome Web Store listing.
