BarcodeLens is provided by Muhis Apps ("we", "us", or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how the BarcodeLens mobile application (the "App") processes information when you scan or create QR codes and barcodes, use Wi-Fi tools, save scan history, export or share content, and view advertisements.
The App does not require an account, and we do not operate a developer server that receives your scanned codes, selected images, or local scan history.
The App does include advertising and barcode-recognition software supplied by third parties. Those providers may automatically process technical, advertising, usage, and diagnostic information as described below and in their own privacy policies.
Camera and Selected Images
When you use live scanning, the App accesses the camera after you grant permission. When you choose or share an image for scanning, the App accesses only the image you selected or shared.
Barcode and QR recognition is performed on the device. We do not upload camera frames, selected images, or decoded scan content to a server operated by Muhis Apps.
Scanned and Generated Content
A successful scan may contain text, URLs, product codes, telephone numbers, email addresses, SMS content, contact-card details, geographic coordinates written in a code, or Wi-Fi network names and passwords.
The App may save this content in your local scan history together with the barcode format, date, favorite status, and group information.
Sensitive history payload fields are encrypted on the device using AES-256-GCM, and the encryption key is stored separately using the operating system's secure storage. Android automatic backup is disabled for the App.
The scan history remains on your device until you delete individual entries, clear the history, clear the App's data, or uninstall the App. The App does not synchronize the scan history to a Muhis Apps cloud account.
Wi-Fi Information
If you use a Wi-Fi QR code, the network name and password are processed locally so Android can connect to the network. They may also be retained as part of the encrypted local scan history.
On Android 12 and earlier, Android may require location permission to read Wi-Fi network information and verify a connection. The App does not use that permission to request GPS coordinates for its own functionality.
However, while location permission is granted, third-party advertising SDKs may be technically able to access location information in accordance with their settings, your consent choices, and their privacy policies.
Local Preferences and Files
The App stores preferences such as onboarding status, haptic feedback, safety options, and display settings locally.
If you export scan history to CSV or JSON, or export a QR image, the resulting file is created at your request and may contain the original readable content.
Exported CSV and JSON files are not protected by the scan-history database encryption. You are responsible for protecting and deleting exported files from Downloads or any destination to which you move or share them.
Advertising Services
The App is supported by banner and interstitial advertising. It uses Appodeal SDK 4.4.0 as the advertising mediation platform.
The current Android build includes the following advertising partners:
AppLovin
BIGO Ads
BidMachine
Vungle / Liftoff
Technical mediation, measurement, and diagnostic components associated with these services may include Bidon, IAB Open Measurement components, and Sentry components used through Appodeal.
Depending on the provider, region, device settings, granted permissions, and consent choices, these services may process:
Advertising identifiers and other device or installation identifiers, including the Google Advertising ID where available.
IP address and location inferred from the IP address.
Location information when an applicable location permission has been granted and the SDK configuration allows it.
Device model, operating system, language, country or region, display information, App version, network type, carrier, and connection information.
Ad requests, impressions, views, clicks, conversions, frequency, placement, and other interactions with advertisements.
Consent signals, fraud-prevention and security signals, diagnostics, crash information, and performance data.
Advertising providers use this information to request, deliver, select, personalize where permitted, measure, and improve advertisements; limit repetition; perform attribution and analytics; maintain security; and detect invalid traffic or fraud.
These companies process information under their own privacy policies and may act as independent controllers or service providers depending on the applicable law and context.
Google ML Kit
BarcodeLens uses Google ML Kit barcode-scanning technology. Recognition occurs on the device, and our code does not send the image or decoded barcode content to Google.
Google states that ML Kit Android SDKs may collect technical and diagnostic information such as App and device information, an App-instance identifier not intended to identify a person, API configuration, input and output size metrics, performance measurements, event types, and errors.
Google states that the listed ML Kit data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS and is not shared with third parties by ML Kit. Google's disclosures apply to its SDK and may change over time.
Camera
Used only when you choose live QR or barcode scanning.
Nearby Wi-Fi Devices
Used on newer Android versions when you choose to connect to a Wi-Fi network from a QR code.
Location on Android 12 and Earlier
Requested only for Wi-Fi connection functions that Android treats as location-related. Refusing it disables the related Wi-Fi function but does not disable unrelated App features.
Internet and Network State
Used to load advertisements, manage privacy choices, perform technical diagnostics, and determine connection availability.
Photos and Files
The App uses Android's system picker or sharing interface so you select the image or file to scan, import, export, or share.
You can manage permissions in Android Settings. Refusing a permission affects only the feature that needs it, except that advertisements and online services require network access.
BarcodeLens allows you to copy, export, or share scanned and generated content and to open content in another App.
For example, you may:
Open a URL in a browser.
Search for a product.
Open a location in a map.
Call a telephone number.
Prepare an SMS or email.
Add contact-card information through the system contact screen.
Connect to a Wi-Fi network.
Share text or files through Android's sharing interface.
These actions occur only after you choose them. The receiving App or service processes the transferred content under its own privacy policy.
Clipboard content may also be accessible to the operating system and other Apps as permitted by Android.
Where required by applicable law or partner configuration, the App attempts to display an advertising consent interface.
When available in your region, you can revisit your choices from:
Settings > Privacy Choices
You can also manage or reset the Advertising ID and limit advertising personalization through Android or Google settings.
Depending on the region and provider, limited technical processing may still occur for contextual advertising, frequency capping, measurement, security, fraud prevention, diagnostics, or legal compliance.
We do not sell or upload your scan history, selected images, Wi-Fi credentials, or generated QR content to a Muhis Apps database.
Advertising partners may process or disclose advertising data for targeted or cross-context advertising where permitted. Some privacy laws may define that activity as a sale or sharing of personal information.
Use the available Privacy Choices and device controls, and consult the providers' policies, to exercise applicable opt-out rights.
Local scan history is retained until you delete an entry, use Clear History, clear App data, or uninstall the App.
Local preferences remain until they are changed, App data is cleared, or the App is uninstalled.
Temporary files may remain in the App cache until Android or the user clears them.
Exported CSV, JSON, and image files remain in the selected storage location until you delete them manually.
Third-party advertising and diagnostic providers retain information according to their own policies and legal obligations. Muhis Apps does not directly control their retention systems.
Because the App has no user account or Muhis Apps server for scan history, deleting local App data must be performed on your device.
Requests concerning information held by an advertising provider should be submitted using that provider's privacy tools or contact method.
We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the App's local design.
Sensitive scan-history payload fields are encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM, the key is kept separately in secure operating-system storage, and Android automatic backup is disabled.
No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. Exported or shared files are intentionally readable so other Apps can use them and are not protected by the database encryption.
Third-party SDK transmissions are controlled by those providers and their security practices. We do not independently operate or verify every network endpoint used by them.
BarcodeLens is a general-purpose utility and is not specifically directed to children under 13.
The App does not ask users to create an account or provide their name or age. Users who are below the minimum age required by their country should use the App only with permission and supervision from a parent or legal guardian.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided information through the App or its advertising services in a way that violates applicable law, contact us and the relevant advertising provider.
Advertising, measurement, and diagnostic providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live.
Those countries may have different data-protection laws. Each provider is responsible for the safeguards and transfer mechanisms described in its privacy policy and contractual terms.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
Access personal information.
Correct or delete personal information.
Restrict or object to processing.
Receive a copy of personal information.
Withdraw consent.
Opt out of targeted advertising or certain sales or sharing.
Complain to a data-protection authority.
For content stored only on your device, you can exercise access and deletion directly in the App or Android settings.
Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal. For advertising-provider data, use the privacy controls or contact channels supplied by that provider.
