2. Information We Collect and Process

Announce is built with a strict privacy-first design. The App operates entirely on-device and does not require an internet connection.

• a) Notification Data
  The App accesses incoming notification metadata (such as the app name and, only if you explicitly enable it, the notification title/content) strictly in memory to read it aloud via Android’s Text-to-Speech (TTS) engine.

  • ✅ This data is processed locally in temporary memory only. It is never written to disk, stored on servers, tracked, or transmitted outside your device.

• b) Installed App List
  The App queries installed launcher apps on your device solely to display them in your personal announcement management list, allowing you to choose which apps to announce or customize.

  • ✅ This information stays strictly on your device and is never uploaded, shared, or sent to external parties.

• c) Local App Preferences & Settings
  Your preferences (e.g., custom spoken app names, volume sliders, rate limits, pin preferences, and theme settings) are stored locally on your device via standard Android local storage (Room / DataStore).

• d) No Advertising or Tracking Data

  • ✅ The App contains no advertisements and imports no third-party advertising SDKs.

  • ✅ We do not collect or access the Google Advertising ID (AD_ID), IP addresses, or device identifiers.

• e) Analytics & Diagnostics

  • ✅ We do not collect analytics, telemetry, or user diagnostics.

3. How We Use Your Information

We process data on your device solely to:

• Announce notifications you have permitted through Text-to-Speech.

• Allow you to configure custom nicknames and filters for individual apps.

• Store your local configuration preferences on your phone.

✅ No profiling, marketing, selling, or harvesting of personal data is performed.

4. Data Sharing & Third-Party Services

• Zero Third-Party Sharing: We do not sell, rent, monetize, or transmit your data to any third party.

• No Cloud / Backend Servers: We do not operate any external servers or cloud databases. All features execute directly on your physical hardware.

5. Permissions and Their Purposes

The App requests only the minimum Android permissions strictly necessary to function:

• Notification Listener Access (android.permission.BIND_NOTIFICATION_LISTENER_SERVICE) – Required by Android to intercept incoming notification events locally and trigger text-to-speech.

• android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS – Required on Android 13+ to display the persistent notification confirming that the announcement service is active.

• android.permission.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED – To automatically re-initialize the announcement service when your device restarts.

• android.permission.REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS (Optional) – Prevents aggressive OEM battery managers from abruptly terminating the background listener service while your screen is off.

• ✅ No Internet Permission: The App does not request android.permission.INTERNET, ensuring no data can leave your device.

• ✅ No Advertising ID Permission: The App does not declare com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID.

6. Data Storage & Retention

• In-Memory Notification Data: Notification text is discarded immediately after speech playback completes.

• Settings & Preferences: Your local configurations remain on your device until you clear the App’s data in Android Settings or uninstall the App.

7. Security

Because all processing is local and the App does not possess internet communication permissions, your notification contents are protected against remote transmission or interception. Device-level security (PIN, pattern, or biometric locks) safeguards your locally saved settings.

8. Children’s Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect or solicit any personal information from children under 13.

9. Your Choices and Controls

You have complete control over the App at all times:

• Turn off Notification Listener access anytime via your Android System Settings.

• Enable, mute, or customize announcements on an app-by-app basis.

• Toggle the global announcement switch off directly from the App or your Quick Settings tile.

• Clear all preferences anytime by uninstalling the App or clearing app data.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may periodically update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in functionality or Android platform requirements. Any updates will be published with a revised "Last updated" date.
