We collect information directly from you, automatically as you use the app, and through device permissions you grant:

a) Account & User-Provided Information

- Account Details: If you register or sign in, we collect your email address and authentication credentials via Firebase Authentication.

- Inventory & Food Data: Information about your pantry, fridge, and freezer items (item names, quantities, categories, purchase dates, expiry dates, and notes).

- Meal Planning & Recipes: Custom meal plans, dietary preferences, portions, nutrition goals, and shopping lists.

- Receipts & Invoices: Images or PDF e-receipts you capture/upload using our Receipt Scanner. Receipt text parsing (OCR) is performed directly on-device.

b) Automatically Collected & Device Information

- App Usage & Analytics: Feature interactions, session duration, and performance metrics collected via Firebase Analytics and Sentry/Crashlytics to diagnose bugs and improve app reliability.

- Device & Diagnostic Data: Device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and crash logs.

c) Subscription & Purchase Data

- Subscriptions and in-app purchases are processed securely by Apple App Store and RevenueCat. We never collect, receive, or store your credit card or financial billing details.

2. Device Permissions We Request

MealSight requests permissions strictly when needed for specific features:

Camera - To scan barcodes on grocery items and take photos of paper receipts for automated inventory addition. 

Photo Library & Files - To import receipt images or PDF e-receipts from your device. 

Push Notifications - To send expiry alerts, food waste reminders, and smart shopping list notifications. 

Location (Optional) - To help you locate nearby grocery stores and optimize local shopping list pricing. 

You can enable, disable, or modify any of these permissions at any time through your device’s System Settings.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information solely to:

- Maintain and sync your pantry, fridge, and shopping inventory across sessions.

- Provide automated expiry notifications and waste reduction alerts.

- Deliver personalized recipe suggestions and portion adjustments.

- Process and validate your auto-renewable premium subscription status.

- Diagnose crashes, monitor app performance, and improve future app updates.

We do NOT sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties or data brokers for advertising.

4. Third-Party Service Providers

We integrate trusted third-party services that adhere to strict data security standards:

- Firebase (Google LLC): For authentication, cloud database syncing, analytics, and crash reporting.

- RevenueCat: For in-app purchase and subscription management.

- Sentry: For application error logging and performance observability.

- Apple App Store: For secure payment processing.

5. Data Storage, Retention & Security

- Storage: Your inventory and preferences are stored locally on your device and securely synchronized to the cloud when signed in.

- Security: All network communications use industry-standard HTTPS/TLS encryption.

- Retention & Deletion: You can delete individual food items, clear shopping lists, or delete your entire account and associated data anytime directly within the app settings or by contacting us.

5. Offline Use

The App works fully offline.
Notifications and some updates require an internet connection, but all core features remain available without one.

6. Children’s Privacy

MealSight is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our app features or legal requirements. Updated policies will be posted with a revised "Last Updated" date.
