AfriScanner (“we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the AfriScanner mobile application (“the App”).

1. Information We Collect

AfriScanner is designed with a local-first approach. Most document processing occurs on your device. However, we may collect limited non-personal information to support app functionality, analytics, and advertising.

We may collect:

• Device information (e.g., device model, OS version)

• App usage data (e.g., feature interactions)

• Crash reports and diagnostics

• Advertising identifiers (such as Advertising ID)

We do NOT collect:

• Your name, phone number, or email address

• Content of scanned documents or ID cards

• Contacts or precise location data

2. Document & Image Processing

All scanned documents, ID cards, and images are processed primarily on your device.

• We do not upload your documents to our servers

• We do not store or analyze document content

3. OCR & Translation

The App uses Google ML Kit for OCR and translation features.

• Some language packs may require download

• After download, certain features can work offline

• Text recognition and translation results are not stored by us

4. Advertising

The App uses Google AdMob to display ads.

AdMob may collect:

• Advertising identifiers (Advertising ID)

• Device information

• Ad interaction data

This data is used to deliver ads and prevent fraud.

5. Analytics & Attribution

We use the following third-party services:

• Firebase (Analytics and Crashlytics)

• Meta Platforms SDK

These services may collect:

• App usage data

• Crash logs

• Attribution data

This information helps us improve the app and measure performance.

6. Third-Party Sharing

When you share files through third-party apps such as WhatsApp:

• Files are transmitted only through the selected app

• We do not access, store, or track shared content

7. Children’s Privacy

AfriScanner is not specifically directed to children under the age of 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

8. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including prioritizing on-device processing and using secure data transmission where applicable.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted within the App or on the store listing.
