Effective Date: October 28, 2025
This Privacy Policy explains how Cognera LLP ("Cognera," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use Guru Cleanup (the "App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.
The App is designed to perform most cleaning and analysis actions on your device. Depending on the features you use and the permissions you grant, we may process the following categories:
Photos & Videos: thumbnails/metadata (e.g., size, date, similarity scores) for duplicate/blur/large media detection.
Contacts: names, phone numbers, emails and similarity metrics for deduplication and merge suggestions.
Calendar/Reminders: event/task metadata for cleanup suggestions.
Storage Files: file names, sizes, types, and age for large/duplicate file discovery.
Device Info: basic device model, OS version, available storage.
By default, this processing stays on your device. We do not receive your media or contacts unless you explicitly choose a cloud feature that requires transmission.
Crash Logs & Performance Diagnostics.
Basic Analytics: app launches, feature taps, screens viewed, subscription status (active/expired), trial start/end, anonymized device identifiers.
Purchase Information: product type, region, transaction identifiers, and subscription state via Apple’s in‑app purchase APIs.
We do not knowingly collect your precise geolocation, text messages, or your full photo/contacts databases on our servers.
Provide, maintain, and improve App features (e.g., detection quality, speed).
Operate subscriptions, free trials, and in‑app purchases.
Debug, prevent abuse, and ensure security and integrity.
Measure feature usage and improve user experience.
Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
Where GDPR/UK GDPR applies, our processing is based on: (i) performance of a contract (providing the App and purchases), (ii) legitimate interests (analytics, security, improvement), and (iii) consent (where required for notifications or device permissions you grant in iOS Settings).
We may share limited information with:
Apple (App Store / in‑app purchases): for billing and subscription management.
Service Providers: crash reporting, analytics, customer support—bound by contractual confidentiality and data‑processing terms.
Legal/Compliance: to comply with laws or respond to lawful requests, or to protect rights, safety, or property.
Business Transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy’s protections.
We do not sell your personal information.
Diagnostic and analytics data are retained only as long as necessary to achieve the purposes above, typically for the shorter of (a) your active use plus a reasonable period, or (b) as required by law.
On‑device data remains on your device under your control. Deleting the App may remove cached local data; system backups may persist per your device settings.
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information. However, no security program is perfect, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Permissions: Grant or revoke Photos/Contacts/Calendar/Notifications access in iOS Settings.
Subscriptions: Manage or cancel via Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions.
Analytics/Crash Reporting: Where supported, you may opt out via in‑app settings or system-level controls.
Notifications: Manage in iOS Settings.
When information is processed by our service providers outside your country, we rely on appropriate safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses) where required by law.
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
Subject to legal limits, you may have the right to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, and to object to processing. You may also withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise rights, contact support@cogneraapps.com. You can lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
We do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA.
You may request to know, access, correct, or delete personal information, and limit use of sensitive personal information (if any). To submit a request, email support@cogneraapps.com. We will verify your request consistent with applicable law and may deny requests as permitted by law.
Authorized agents may submit requests with proof of authorization.
The App does not respond to Do Not Track signals. Where legally recognized Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals apply to our services, we will honor them per applicable law.
If the App surfaces links to third‑party sites or services, their privacy practices govern your use of those services.
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated Policy in the App with a new effective date. Your continued use of the App after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the changes.
