Privacy Policy for Bolo

Bolo ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use the Bolo mobile application.
1. Information Collection and Use
A. Audio Data Bolo collects audio recorded through your device's microphone only when you explicitly trigger the recording feature. This audio is used solely for the purpose of transcription.
Processing: Audio is sent to OpenAI's API for transcription.
Storage: We do not store your audio files on our servers. Temporary files created during the process are deleted immediately after transcription is complete.
B. Accessibility Service Data Bolo uses the Android Accessibility Service to provide its core "Dictation" functionality.
Purpose: The service is used only to detect when a text input field is focused and to insert the transcribed text into that field.
No Logging: Bolo does not log, store, or transmit any keystrokes, passwords, or screen content. It does not monitor your activity in other apps beyond identifying active text fields for insertion.
C. API Keys To function, Bolo requires an OpenAI API key provided by you.
Storage: Your API key is stored locally on your device using encrypted storage (Android EncryptedSharedPreferences). It is never sent to our servers.
2. Third-Party Services
Bolo utilizes the OpenAI API to process voice-to-text transcriptions. By using this app, you acknowledge that your audio data will be processed by OpenAI in accordance with their privacy policies. We recommend reviewing OpenAI’s privacy policy regarding API usage.
3. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data on your device. However, as the app relies on your own API key and external internet connectivity, you are responsible for maintaining the security of your API credentials.
4. Permissions
Bolo requests the following permissions:
Microphone: To record your voice for dictation.
Accessibility Service: To insert text into other applications.
Internet: To communicate with the OpenAI API for transcription.
Camera: To scan QR codes for pairing with the Bolo PC Server.
Notification: To show the status of the background dictation service.
5. Children’s Privacy
Bolo does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes.
