Frank Miles bronze sculpture 'Steptoe' (Pelican) can be viewed at Lance Ferris wharf at Fawcett Park, on Ballina's Richmond River. Some of Frank's sculptures can be viewed at his gallery situated next to his studio in Alstonville. Works can also be ordered directly from his online gallery.

Ballina Memorial Pool and Waterslide

The new facilities at the Ballina Memorial Swimming Pool opened in July 2018. The new facility includes:

50 metre heated pool with eight 2.5 metre-wide lanes for competition swimming and water polo games; 25 metre by 15 metre heated enclosable pool; access ramps into all pools; wet play splash areas for children; new amenities building and transparent fencing along the Richmond River; two waterslides - a shorter slide for a gentle ride, and a longer faster slide for the waterslide enthusiast.

Crawford House

Crawford House is the home of the Alstonville Plateau Historical Society, Community Resource Centre, and a small museum. In 2003 the Society restored this Federation style property which displays household items from the 1900s to the 1960s.

It has a research room and a collection of materials relating to the history of Alstonville.

Originally known as 'Olivene', the house was built in 1910 by DC Connor of Ballina for Mr William Ambrose Crawford and his new bride, Olive (nee White).

Victoria Park boardwalk

Transport yourself to the lush world of sub-tropical rainforests on the short Victoria Park boardwalk. Discover the giant Morton Bay figs and towering black beans, remnants of the original Big Scrub that covered the Northern Rivers region. The path is suitable for prams and wheelchairs and accessible facilities at Victoria Park picnic area, means everyone can enjoy this idyllic spot.

The Australian Seabird Rescue, Research, Rehabilitation and Coastal Education Centre in Ballina offers a comprehensive educational experience for people of all ages. Participants experience first hand the issues in their local environment. The interactive, hands on approach gives everyone an unforgettable experience that they can take home and share with others.

All presentations include a one hour informative talk by one of their trained volunteers, as well as a chance to see wildlife that may be in their care. Animals that you may get the opportunity to get a close-up look at may include pelicans, other sea birds, shore birds, and even the fascinating and endangered sea turtles.
