Interactions between Geometric Structures
Goals of the project
Goals of the project
The aim of the project is to create new connections and to strengthen the existing ones in two transversal but complementary senses:
among related areas of mathematics, ranging from Geometry to Topology and Analysis, but also to Symbolic Computation;
encouraging a transmission of knowledge between different generations of mathematicians.
Our project will promote the trasfer of skills, techniques and methodologies and will foster the collaboration among the members, with the goal of obtaining significant contributions in the expertise areas of the various members, with an important fallout on the related scientific community.
The core expertise areas of the project members can be divided into two main themes:
A) GEOMETRIC STRUCTURES ON MANIFOLDS
The study of manifolds endowed with structure; this includes symplectic/almost Kähler manifolds, (almost) contact (metric) structures, geometric structures inspired by Riemannian holonomy (G2, SU(4), Sp(2), Spin(7)), special metrics on complex manifolds, special curvature conditions on (pseudo-)Riemannian manifolds, twistor techniques in differential geometry, and holomorphic foliations.
B) FUNCTION THEORIES
The theory of complex and hypercomplex analytic functions of one and several variables, with a special attention for their zero sets, their (quasi-)conformal properties, their function spaces, their relation with complex, hypercomplex and quaternionic manifolds.

L'obiettivo del progetto è creare nuove connessioni e di irrobustire quelle che già esistono in due direzioni trasversali ma complementari:
tra aree collegate della matematica, che spaziano dalla geometria, alla topologia, all'analisi, ma anche anche al calcolo simbolico;
incoraggiare una trasmissione della conoscenza tra generazioni di matematici diverse.
Il nostro progetto promuoverà il trasferimento di conoscenze, tecniche e metodologie, e sosterrà la collaborazione tra i partecipanti, con l'obiettivo di ottenere contributi significativi nelle aree di competenza specifiche dei partecipanti, con importanti ricadute sulla comunità scientifica coinvolta.
Le aree di competenza dei partecipanti del progetto possono essere raggruppate in due temi principali:
A) STRUTTURE GEOMETRICHE SU VARIETÀ
Lo studio di varietà dotate di struttura; questo include varietà simplettiche/almost Kähler, strutture di (quasi) contatto (metriche), strutture geometriche ispirate dall'olonomia Riemanniana (G2, SU(4), Sp(2), Spin(7)), metriche speciali su varietà complesse, condizioni di curvatura speciali su varietà (pseudo-)Riemanniane, tecniche twistor in geometria differenziale e foliazioni olomorfe.
B) TEORIE DELLE FUNZIONI
La teoria delle funzioni analitiche complesse e ipercomplesse di una e varie variabili, con speciale attenzione ai loro insiemi di zeri, alle loro proprietà (quasi-)conformi, ai loro spazi di funzioni, alle loro relazioni con varietà complesse, ipercomplesse e quaternioniche.
