I started my PhD in Spring 2026, looking at the drivers of intentional flake production and use in non-human primates (chimpanzees, capuchins and long-tailed macaques).
Prior to joining the PRIMERS group, I was involved (and still am) in the touchscreen and eye-tracking research with the chimpanzees in ARTIS Amsterdam Royal Zoo.
Within the zoo world, I am active in the research advisory group of the Chimpanzee EAZA Ex situ Programme (EEP).
Combining my work in zoos and academia, I am part of the Dutch consortium Prima&Zoo, a collective of researchers dedicated to better understanding primate behaviour, cognition, and welfare.
I am also a board member of the Royal Dutch Zoological Society (RDZS). As board member I was the lead organizer of the 2025 ZOOlogy conference.
