PRIMA-J All-in-One Meeting FY2025

Format: Hybrid meeting (basically in-person meeting). The presentations are in English, but we allow Japanese talks (but the presentation slide should be in English) if preferred by the speaker.

Meeting Purposes  

PRIMA is a cooled far-infrared space telescope with an aperture of 1.8m, and is a candidate for the NASA Probe mission. Its launch in 2032 will enable far-infrared observations from space, after a gap of more than 10 years since the previous far-infrared mission. With its much higher sensitivity and mapping speed than any earlier far-infrared telescopes, PRIMA’s main goals are to reveal initial conditions of the planet formation, the evolution of galactic ecosystems, and the buildup of dust and metals. PRIMA-J is a consortium aiming at participating formally in the PRIMA project, and now planning both scientific and technical contributions to PRIMA. This PRIMA-J all-in-one meeting FY2025 is for offering an opportunity to gather scientists and engineers involved/interested in PRIMA-related activities. The meeting aims to share the current status of PRIMA, discuss Japan’s potential contributions, explore synergies with various other projects, and establish a foundation for a robust FIR community in Japan. 

PRIMA は、口径 1.8 m の冷却型遠赤外線宇宙望遠鏡であり、NASA の Probe ミッション候補として検討されています。2032 年の打ち上げにより、前回の遠赤外線ミッションから 10 年以上の空白期間を経て、宇宙からの遠赤外線観測が再び可能になります。これまでのいかなる遠赤外線望遠鏡よりも高い感度とマッピング速度を持つ PRIMA の主な科学目標は、惑星形成の初期条件、銀河生態系の進化、そして宇宙におけるダストと金属の蓄積過程を明らかにすることです。PRIMA-J は、PRIMA プロジェクトに正式に参加することを目指すコンソーシアムであり、現在、科学的および技術的貢献の両面で計画を進めています。本 PRIMA-J all-in-one meeting（FY2025）は、PRIMA に関連する活動に携わっている、あるいは関心を持つ科学者・技術者が一堂に会する機会を提供するものです。この会議では、PRIMA の最新状況を共有し、日本の貢献可能性について議論し、さまざまなプロジェクトとのシナジーを探るとともに、日本における強固な遠赤外線コミュニティの基盤形成を目指します。
