What do I need to get started with Chromecast?
You need the following to setup Chromecast in your home:
A Television or Projector with an HDMI input

An Android (4.0 and above) or iOS (7.0 or above) device to setup Chromecast.

How do I know if my WiFi router supports Chromecast?
Google Chromecast needs a WiFi network setup by a WiFi router for smooth operation. The router needs to be Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n compatible. Plug and play WiFi dongles and WiFi hotspots created by Android smart-devices are not recommended.
Chromecast is compatible with most WiFi routers currently available in the market such as D-Link, Netgear, Cisco, Beetel and Binatone and have found it to work with most of them which are currently available in the market. Benefits of Google Chromecast
You can carry your device with you while travel. You would need to set it up when you connect it to a new WiFi network. But please keep in mind that for Chromecast to work the router needs to have Device to Device communication enabled, which is not the case in most hotels, offices and corporate setups.

To get started with Google Chromecast all you need is a Chromecast device, a Wi-Fi network, and a mobile device for the setup process. If you are trying to play videos stored on your phone or PC than internet connection is not required, the videos will be streamed using your Wi-Fi network. To play online videos like YouTube videos then internet connection is required.
The minimum recommended speed to play normal quality videos is 2Mbps, and to play HD quality videos internet speed should be 4Mbps or higher.
You should not face any problems using Wi-Fi repeater.
